Loreen wins Melodifestivalen and will represent Sweden for a second time

After six weeks of competition the Swedes have spoken and following on from the likes of Carola and Charlotte Perrelli, Loreen will join them as a returning Eurovision winner with her song “Tattoo”.

How the final went down

A total of twelve acts will be taking to the stage in Friends Arena in Stockholm tonight. Opening the final was veteran Jon Henrik Fjällgren, alongside Arc North and Adam Woods. Interestingly, the SVT producers have decided to put the other direct qualifier from the first deltävling on at #2: Tone Sekelius.

Hot favourite for the victory and tonight’s champion was former Eurovision winner Loreen. She performed as #10 in the grand final. Only THEOZ and Paul Rey went on after her. Marcus & Martinus, the other favourite for victory, were at #4. The Norwegian duo eventually finished in second place, 39 points behind Loreen.

About Tattoo

Written by Jimmy “Joker” Thörnfeldt, Jimmy Jansson, Loreen Cazzi Opeia, Peter Boström and Thomas G:son, it was Loreen’s fourth entry into MelFest, the other three being “My Heart Is Refusing Me” (2011), “Statements” (2017) and her Eurovision winner “Euphoria” (2012). The latter reigned supreme at the top of the annual ESC250 polls after being knocked off the top by Spain’s Chanel with “SloMo” last year in 2022. Tattoo has already been a successful hot on Sweden’s “Sverigestopplisten” by being Sweden’s number one for two weeks running.
