Stockholm 2016

National final in January

Maltese national broadcaster PBS has announced it’s national selection plans for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. The national final is scheduled for January as the tiny island in the Mediterranean begins the search for it’s hopeful in Stockholm.
PBS published the main regulations on it’s website. A number of the regulations are similar to recent national selections. The winner of the Maltese national final will be decided by six judges and the tele-vote will count as the seventh jury member.
In contrast to previous years, all interested artists must submit two songs, one of them original and another one a cover version. The submission dates are 30th and 31st October. In November, the national television station is expected to announce the twenty semi-finalists but only fourteen will make it to the final.
In the past years, the Malta Eurovision Song Contest proved to be a high level production, making the Maltese national final an exciting and followed event.
In the last Eurovision Song Contest, Malta was represented by Amber, who was just one place short to qualify to the final in Vienna.
