🇫🇮 Listen to Ilta’s UMK21 entry “Kelle mä soitan”

Today we got the last song for Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu, Finland’s national selection for Eurovision Song Contest 2021. The song “Kelle mä soitan” by Ilta was released together with a lyric video.

The song is written by Ilta Fuchs, Väinö Wallenius, Jouni Aslak and Tuomas Kauhanen and produced by Väinö Wallenius, Ilta Fuchs, Lasse Piirainen and Anssi Växby.

Lasse Piirainen represented Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2017 as part of Norma John. Jouni Aslak took part in Finland’s selection in 2016 with the song “Lions and Lambs”.

Who is Ilta?

24-year-old Ilta Fuchs gained fame after featuring on the song “Sillat” by Finland’s probably most popular artist Cheek. She then released her first single “Koukkuun” in 2018. The song has been certified gold in Finland.

In 2019 she took part in television music show Tähdet, tähdet and finished third. During the competition she covered Whitney Houston‘s “I Will Always Love You” and Spice Girls’ “Wannabe“. She also released her debut album “Näitä hetkiä varten” in September 2020. Recently she got two nominations at the prestigious Emma Awards.

Next to her own material, she is also known of her covers of Adele songs and a cappella versions of her own songs as well as other popular hits.

Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2021

The tenth edition of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu will take place on February 20 at 20:00 CET. Seven artists will compete and the Finnish public together with international juries will choose Finland’s representative for Eurovision Song Contest 2021.

The seven contestants who are taking part are Ilta, Laura, Oskr, Teflon Brothers x Pandora, Aksel, Danny and Blind Channel. Mikko Silvennoinen will serve as the commentator of the show and the host will be revealed in February.
