Here they go again… Måneskin release MAMMAMIA

No they are not suddenly joining the ABBA Voyage tour. Instead, Måneskin are releasing new single ‘MAMMAMIA’ and using their Italian sex appeal to reflect on all the attention they have received since winning the Rotterdam contest earlier in May. Shortly after that victory, the group spent several hours in the studio writing what would be their first new original release since ‘Zitti E Buoni’. From the song title to the brash, in your face lyrics, Måneskin push back against people’s misconceptions of their art. While poking fun at the usual Italian stereotypes. “They ask me why so hot? ’cause I’m Italiano!”

Meanwhile Damiano delivers the song with his identifying suave charisma. Set to the beat of throbbing drum beats and guitar grit. Many will spot the knowing references to that infamous night in May, where the band were falsely accused of using narcotics. As Damiano sings of people wanting to arrest him. But he is innocent and knows it and is just trying to have a fun time.

During the event the band held a press conference, where they opened up further about the song and all the attention surrounding them.

“We thought we had done something fantastic, but there was a lot of commentary. We didn’t understand that and we wanted to make a nice reference to that with this song.”

Damiano David

It’s a funny song, we had a lot of fun making it. We were overflowing with inspiration.”
