ABBA set sail with their final album Voyage

"The opportunity to write new music for ABBA, and then to record it and come out the studio and be able to say "I like the result", we're all extremely happy to have done this".

A day many have waited years, and some even a lifetime, to arrive. ABBA have, today, released their final album, Voyage. It’s the first studio album release of new ABBA music in 39 years, after announcing in 2018 that the group had reunited after 40 years apart.

It is, without a doubt, the greatest pop comeback of all time. “Don’t Shut Me Down” went straight into the UK top 10 upon its release, and their new virtual concert will run six nights a week from May 2022, with additional dates added and tickets available now.

What to expect from Voyage?

In truth, this is a more mature version of ABBA. Music appropriate to their age, their life stories and their experience. Compositions that delicately support and match the elder vocal tones, which is to be expected. Yet, the album picks up right where they left off in 1981. It may feel a little different, but it is certainly ABBA through and through.

The ten songs on Voyage were all written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, as usual. The album itself broke UK pre-order records set by the comeback of Take That with Progress in 2010, with over 111,000 copies ordered in advance.

Voyage was chosen as the title as they felt this album was a “voyage into uncharted territory”. Being back in the studio after 39 years was like “no time had passed”. This is all revealed in their new behind the scenes video looking at the creation of the album.

“We knew that if there was a new show, we would need a couple of new songs to go with it”

You can stream Voyage on your preferred platform, now:
