Westlife – ‘My Hero’

Back in 2016 it was Nicky Byrne putting the ‘Sunlight‘ on the Eurovision stage for Ireland. Now he’s back with his former bandmates as they release new single ‘My Hero’. With an illustrious career, spanning over 20 years, ‘My Hero’ is taken from forthcoming 12th studio album, Wild Dreams. After a difficult time for a band used to travelling the world on tour, this new song reflects on the heroes in our own lives that have pulled us through the last 18 months. Co-written with Ed Sheeran and Steve Mac, the emotional ballad resonated with millions of viewers on last night’s Pride of Britain Awards. Now normality is slowly returning, fans of Westlife can look forward to finally seeing the band on their 2022 arena tour, which had been delayed through the pandemic.

‘My Hero’ has such beautiful lyrics. It is a powerful, heartfelt song which has such a strong meaning for all of us. The single reminds us of the heroics people have shown over the last 18 months and it also reflects on our own loved-ones who so often have been our personal heroes. The track is packed with emotion and has the potential to really connect with people. Performing it for millions of Pride of Britain viewers was the perfect launch for ‘My Hero’ which will be included on our upcoming new album Wild Dreams.

VICTORIA – ‘THE WORST’

Earlier this May, VICTORIA proved she was not the worst, with a respectable 11th place for ‘growing up is getting old‘. Following the contest and debut EP ‘a little dramatic‘, she releases her first post-Eurovision single, ‘THE WORST’. As a teaser of The Next Page in the chapter of her life, this is a shift in style for VICTORIA. Although in keeping with her gentle melodic vocal, now it blends effortlessly with electro-guitar and piano beats. Back together with her Eurovision songwriting team, this is a revenge anthem that speaks to anyone that was made to feel as though they were the villain of a relationship.

Emmelie de Forest – ‘Typical Love Song’

Since winning Eurovision in 2014, the ‘Only Teardrops’ singer Emmelie de Forest has developed her music craft. From the floaty, folk melodies, to now combining that with a more modern pop sound. After two years away Emmelie returns with latest single, ‘Typical Love Song’. Yet despite the title, this is much more. Here we have a love story played out in song. Not typical, is that there are no choruses. Which gives this a poetic tone, as Emmelie takes us back to the early naughties with a Britney Spears vocal and a clever music video reminiscent of the pop girlie tropes from the past.
