A few weeks after winning Una Voce per San Marino, Achille Lauro has officially released his Eurovision entry “Stripper“. The song now has both an official lyric video as well as a release on streaming platforms.
Achille Lauro for San Marino
The shock was real when SMRTV revealed that Achille Lauro was set to take part in their new national final. Eventually, the Italian artist managed to win Una Voce per San Marino by just a single point over Turkish DJ Burak Yeter. Ever since, only live performances of Stripper existed.
That has now changed. Achille Lauro has released his entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 officially. It turns out there’s a large team of songwriters behind the entry, with no less than ten people credited for writing Stripper. They are Achille Lauro himself, but also Davide Petrella, Simon Pietro Manzari, Francesco Viscovo, Daniele Dezi, Daniele Mungai, Mattia Cutolo, Marco Lanciotti, Gregorio Calculli and Matteo Ciceroni.
Achille Lauro has added himself to a relatively short list of people who have been in two ‘national finals’ in one season, if you consider Festival di Sanremo a national final. Previously, acts like Ich Troje, Esther Hart and NAPOLI did so. In February, Achille Lauro already took part in the Festival di Sanremo with Domenica. He then performed alongside the Harlem Gospel Choir.
San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest
San Marino have now qualified for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest twice in a row. Both Serhat in 2019 and Senhit ft. Flo Rida last year managed to achieve it, with Serhat even finishing top ten with televoters in the Grand Final. They debuted back in 2008 and had to wait until 2014 for their first final with Valentina Monetta on her third attempt. This year, San Marino will compete in the second semi-final of the contest on May 12th. Achille will perform on the first half of the show in Turin. You can read more about the rest of the semifinal in our The Story So Far article.
