Rehearsal review

Stage presentation

The giant disco ball on stage is such an effective prop. The drum looks like it’s ‘on top’ of the disco ball, but in actual fact, it’s set up on a raised platform. We’ve seen some excellent camerawork for this; it makes the band feel like they’re playing an intimate gig and with plenty of camera cuts too, to keep it dynamic.

This is exactly what it should be – the lighting really captures your attention and suits the 70s disco vibe, with the camera really bringing us to the party.

There is no worries about the kinetic sun here – clearly the Slovenian team always intended to use the lights for their performance, as they are used to shine directly on the disco ball too!

Costumes and styling

The groups’ outfits are all well-fitted suits. They suit the band exceptionally well, and they really do appear as if they are the biggest performing act at the disco – and we’re so glad we got the invite!

Vocal quality

No surprises here, the vocals are incredibly secure and very confident. A really strong set of run-throughs today.

Overall impression

It’s fair to say that we’re really impressed with Slovenia. A very fun performance that fills the stage and should have the arena dancing throughout! This might well be in contention to qualify if it can capture the attention of the public, but it certainly feels like the juries will support this exceptionally professional performance.
