Courtney Act is set to announce Australia’s douze points at the 2022 Eurovision Grand Final, and will also be part of a 6-piece jury that includes many familiar faces. Australia’s 2021 representative Montaigne will join her on this panel.
About Courtney Act
On Tuesday morning in Australia, SBS Eurovision announced that Courtney Act would be taking on the role as Australia’s Eurovision spokesperson for 2022.
Whilst some Eurovision fans may recognise her as as a participant in Australia Decides 2019, she is more commonly known for coming second on the 2014 season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Courtney first established her roots in 2003 on Australian Idol. In addition, in 2018, she won Celebrity Big Brother UK. She has also shown her broad range of talents by also coming runner up on the Australian edition of Dancing with the Stars in 2019 and runner-up on Dancing with the Stars: All Stars in April this year.
Australia’s previous spokespeople
Australia has had a range of respected spokespeople in the past. From 2015-2017, Lee Lin Chin, renowned TV and radio presenter and journalist, revealed Australia’s points. From 2018-2021 (not including 2020), spokespeople included Ricardo Gonçalves, SBS World News Presenter, Electric Fields, beloved Australian electric-soul duo and Australia Decides 2019 participants, and Joel Creasey, a stand-up comedian and also one of Australia’s Eurovision commentators alongside Myf Warhurst.
Australia’s Eurovision Jury
SBS Eurovision also announced the full line-up of Australia’s 2022 Eurovision Jury. They will be responsible for deciding 50% of Australia’s points at the contest this year. Amongst Courtney, the line up includes:
- Montaigne – Australian art-pop singer-songwriter and musician and Australia’s 2021 Eurovision representative
- Bridget Hustwaite – Australian TV presenter, journalist and author
- Dylan Lewis – Australian TV and radio host
- Matt Okine – Australian stand-up comedian, rapper, radio presenter, actor and author
- Milly Petriella – Australian songwriting and producing advisor
