Ralph Siegel’s musical première

Ralph Siegel is one of the composers with the biggest footprint in the ESC, participating more than 20 times, with one win (representing his home land Germany in 1982) and coming back this year through the Sammarinese entry: “Chain Of Lights”, by Michele Perniola and Anita Simoncini (both former Junior ESC contestants).
Mr Siegel’s musical, Johnny Blue, was premiered in Brno, Czech Republic. It includes many of his beloved Eurovision entries.
Stanislav Moša is the writer and director of this play featuring 38 of Siegel’s greatest hits.

The name of the musical is borrowed from the German entry of the ESC of 1981, performed by Lena Valaitis, which came second. The play tells the story of Johnny Blue, a blind musician who sells his soul to the devil to recover his sight.
Some of his ESC songs which are featured in Johnny Blue are Theater (originally performed by Katja Ebstein in 1980), his winning song, Ein Bisschen Frieden (originally performed by Nicole), and the upbeat Wir geben ‘ne Party, originally performed by MeKaDo in 1994.
