John Lundvik first competed in Sweden’s national selection in 2018 with the song “My Turn”. He was put to perform second in the first heat and qualified directly to the final by finishing second in the heat. In the final he finished third with the international jury, the Swedish televoters and overall.

Next year he returned to Melodifestivalen with “Too Late for Love”. He again qualified to the final and landslided to the victory there. He got the maximum twelve points from all the eight international juries and only two voting groups gave their top points for someone else than John Lundvik. He went on to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest, where he finished second with the jury vote. After the votes from the public, he managed to stay in the top five, giving Sweden their seventh top five result in the 2010s.

After winning the dancing competition Let’s Dance in 2020, John returned to Melodifestivalen this year with the song “Änglavakt”. He competed in the second heat of the contest. Liamoo was the winner of the heat after getting the most votes in the first round, but John managed to qualify to the final from the second round. He got the 12 points from seven of the eight voting groups. He will compete in the final of Melodifestivalen 2022 on March 12th, hoping to get another chance to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest.
