🇦🇿 Azerbaijan confirm Junior Eurovision return

Sona Azizova will sing the nation's first Junior Eurovision entry since 2018

Last week, a spokesperson from Azerbaijan’s ITV claimed that the broadcaster ‘hoped’ to return to the Junior contest this year. Today, the broadcaster has not only confirmed their participation for this year’s contest in Paris, but that they have already internally-selected their artist.

Their representative has been chosen!

In a video uploaded to the broadcaster’s official YouTube channel, it has been announced that Sona Azizova has been internally-selected to represent Azerbaijan at the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Earlier this year, Sona finished second in the first season of The Voice Kids Azerbaijan. Her entry will be revealed later this year.

This will mark Azerbaijan’s fourth overall appearance at Junior Eurovision. Their last participation was back in 2018, when Fidan Huseynova placed 16th with “I Wanna Be Like You”. Azerbaijan join Ireland, North Macedonia and Portugal in returning to the Junior contest this year.
