John Lundvik reveals he missed out on Melodifestivalen 2017 place to Loreen

He might be overjoyed after winning Melodifestivalen last weekend, but John Lundvik has revealed that he was due to compete in the selection in previous years before losing his place twice. This includes 2017, where Loreen was added to the competition at the very last minute. Missed opportunities Speaking to Aftonbladet, John spoke about what could’ve been. His place in Melodifestivalen 2017 was taken by Loreen the night before the press conference. “It wasn’t like I was sitting in the taxi, but not far from it. It was the night before that I got word about it”Aftonbladet: And was that because Loreen accepted last minute?“You never know which facts are real, but that’s the version we got” Everything happens for a reason John’s first experience of Melodifestivalen was back in 2013, where he was an off-stage backing vocalist for Anton Ewald’s “Begging”. Today, after the dress rehearsal for tomorrow’s final, the Swedish fan club Melodifestivalklubben asked the audience who was their favourite. The winner tonight was John Lundvik with 34.8 percent of the votes! Just a day after releasing “Arcade”, Duncan Laurence has performed his Eurovision Song Contest entry live for the first time. He was a guest on De Wereld Draait Door, where he sang the song in an orchestral version, accompanied by string instruments. Live arrangement The arrangement Duncan used tonight on the talkshow is not the version he will be singing in Tel Aviv. For his first live performance of the song, he and his team decided to use this orchestral version. The version was accompanied by string instruments, as well as a piano and backing vocals. De Wereld Draait Door is a known podium for the Dutch Eurovision act. Last year, Waylon performed his “Outlaw In ‘Em” there live for the first time. He did the same with “Calm After The Storm” when he accompanied Ilse DeLange as part of The Common Linnets during for the contest in 2014. Before the big final of Melodifestivalen 2019 we had the chance to talk to one of the favorites for the show. We talked with Hanna Ferm & LIAMOO who compete with their song “Hold You” to represent Sweden in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest 2019. We talked about their history, what they expect and more. Both are very excited about the final in Stockholm. After LIAMOO made his solo debut last year, Hanna debuts this year in a duet with LIAMOO. Together they perform “Hold You” in the final of Melodifestivalen 2019. Both prefer to do this experience together. Hanna says that it feels better because you can support each other and you feel not alone during this experiance. After rumours about her being Ireland’s choice for Eurovision 2019, Janet Devlin has now confirmed she is not representing Ireland in Tel Aviv. “Maybe someday” On a YouTube video she addresses the rumours and says they are not true. Various medias including the Irish Daily Mail reported about Janet being announced as Irish representative tomorrow, but Janet says this is not true. She says she had to make this video after being contacted by lots of people and media. She says that you shouldn’t always trust all articles, even when they are coming from “reliable news sources”. Janet says that she will be watching the show and enjoys it and says that maybe someday she might represent the country. Who is Janet Devlin? 24-year-old Janet Devlin is from Gortin in Northern Ireland. In 2011 she auditioned for the eight season of The X Factor.
