In the final week of Pride month, events across Spain are set to feature a number of former Eurovision acts! Barcelona Pride is set to have performances from Eleni Foureira, Tamta and Soraya among others. Meanwhile, Mikolas Josef, Luca Hänni and KEiiNO are part of a star-studded line up for Madrid Pride! Considering the heavy crossover between the Eurovision Song Contest and the LGBTQ+ community, it comes as little surprise that former Eurovision stars have been performing across Europe this past month – the month of Pride. This is exemplified by the line ups of Pride events in both Barcelona and Madrid this week, which feature past and present Eurovision stars! Barcelona Pride 2019 Barcelona Pride will be take place on the 28th and 29th of June, comprising of numerous events and concerts across the city. Germany: Aly Ryan teases possible Eurovision 2020 return on Instagram Live

Last week Aly Ryan, who competed in Germany’s “Unser Lied für Israel”, went live on Tidals Instagram account for a fan Q&A and answered the question if she would be try to go to Eurovision again. Aly Ryan, the fan-favourite who placed fourth in Germany’s 2019 selection “Unser Lied für Israel” with her song “Wear Your Love”, recently went on a trip to New York to promote her new song “Better”, a collaboration with TELYkast. She also made a stop at the office of the Jay-Z owned music streaming service “TIDAL” to answer some fan questions. Unser Lied für Israel and Eurovision The first question asked was if she would want to compete in Germany’s national selection in 2020 again. Aly had a few things to say about her future involvement and the process of “Unser Lied für Israel” in general. She stated that she would like to go to Eurovision, but only if she gets selected internally. Furthermore, she said she “doesn’t believe in the whole process with the juries”. Judges and host for X Factor Malta are revealed as auditions begin

On June 20th, the official X Factor Malta Facebook page reported that the four judges for this season of the show would be: Howard Keith, Ira Losco, Alexandra Alden, and Ray Mercieca. The host for this season is Ben Camille. Howard Keith Debono is the managing director of Jagged House Music Company, a Malta-based company managing acts like The Rifffs MT, The New Victorians, and Eurovision acts like Ira Losco and Michela. Ira Losco is the most familiar of the four judges for Eurovision fans. She placed 2nd in the 2002 Eurovision Song Contest for Malta with her song “7th Wonder.” She also represented Malta in 2016 with the song “Walk on Water,” placing 12th. Alexandra Alden is a Maltese singer and songwriter currently living in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. She was the winner of the LovinMalta award in 2019 and she won the Jong QuiteQuiet singer-songwriter award in 2014 in Delft. Ray Mercieca has been a legendary singer in Malta for decades. He was one of the first Maltese singers to secure a solo record deal outside the country. In the 1990s, he fronted a band called The Characters. He is currently the front man for The Rifffs. EBU to vote on new conditions of Membership this week, delayed vote for RTK membership likely

Later this week, the 82nd EBU General Assembly will take place in the Norwegian capital city of Oslo. It was previously reported that a vote on whether Kosovar broadcaster RTK would be granted full EBU membership would take place during this assembly. Kindly, the EBU have updated us on the situation. A vote on new conditions for membership eligibility The EBU has clarified to us that first on the agenda is to determine any changes to the criteria of membership: A vote will take place at our General Assembly later this week on new conditions for Membership of the EBU.EBU RTK would need to reapply If the Assembly chooses to change the criteria for broadcasters to apply for full membership, then RTK would be required to apply once more. Should the GA vote to change the criteria for Membership, RTK would need to formally apply under the new rules. A decision on Membership is then possible at the GA in December. Hypothetical criteria changes? Criteria changes could be beneficial for other broadcasters. Hypothetically, if a criterion allowing broadcasters to join if part of their country is geographically in Europe is introduced, this could open a door for Kazakhstan’s Khabar Agency …

MARUV announces North American tour scheduled for October

On June 20th, concert agency Show Impulse announced that MARUV would tour in North America. This announcement comes out at the same time that MARUV is touring all over Eastern Europe, including Milan, Italy; Chisinau, Moldova; Tallinn, Estonia (where she is performing tonight); and many locations in Ukraine and Russia. MARUV’s North American tour schedule (Source: Show Impulse) The tour will last from October 4th through the 13th and will span seven cities. This tour will be MARUV’s first tour in the United States and Canada. MARUV, known for hit singles like “Drunk Groove” and “For You,” is best known to us as the winner of Vidbir in February 2019 with “Siren Song.” As the winner, she was supposed to represent Ukraine at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv. However, after UA:PBC offered her an overly demanding contract and politicized her participation, MARUV did not represent Ukraine, and the country withdrew. Summer, warm days, long nights, barbecues, sport and more importantly music festivals! Yes there are other music festivals that happen in the summer that isn’t Glastonbury! Yes one of the most famous of them happens in an open air museum called Skansen and it brings you “Allsång på Skansen”. You better believe it that your favourite Swedish Eurovision and MelFest stars are heavily involved with proceedings! Glastonbury meets Eurovision meets Karaoke. Allsång på Skansen is a very popular Swedish music show broadcast on SVT, the same network that brings us MelFest. It’s an open air concert where musicians turn up and perform their hits. NRK just released the names of the artists who will battle it out for the 8th annual title of being Norway’s most versatile singer. As always there are quite a few familiar names to us children of the Euroverse. Several of this year’s participants have taken part in Melodi Grand Prix. A few of them have also graced the Eurovision stage, some of them even more than once! Adrian Jørgensen Adrian was the runner up behind Keiino in this year’s Melodi Grand Prix. He performed the song “The Bubble”, which was written by among others Kjetil Mørland (Norway, 2015) and Aleksander Walmann (2017). Adrian was one of the backing vocalists for JOWST and Aleksander Walmann in Kyiv, and he also did backing vocals for Aleksander Walmann in Melodi Grand Prix last year. In 2013 he was the runner up in the Norwegian edition of “The Voice”. Will he take the step up on the top of the podium this time? Bulgaria’s BNT reportedly “bankrupt” with debts approaching 25 million euros

This weekend, Bulgarian newspaper Capital has revealed that Bulgarian National Television (BNT) is “bankrupt”. BNT’s debts are reportedly approaching 50 million lev, which is equivalent to 25 million euros. This revelation precedes the upcoming election for a new Director General at BNT, set to take place on July 5. Four key areas of spending Capital reports that a large amount of the debts owed by BNT have been amassed during the reign of current Director General of the broadcaster, Konstantin Kamenarov. According to the newspaper’s sources at BNT and the Ministry of Finance, the debts can be blamed on four key areas: Increased costs for foreign productionsBuying more rights to sporting eventsIncreasing the salaries of employees at BNTPurchasing major film packages and programmes According to some of Capital’s sources, the majority of Kamenarov’s spending has taken place in the past few months due to his expectation that he will no longer by Director General after next month’s election as a result of a drink-driving conviction. Muireann McDonnell gears up for audition on The Voice Kids UK

This evening, the third series of the UK edition of The Voice Kids commenced on primetime ITV. Eagle-eyed viewers will have noticed that during the green room segments that precede each blind audition, a certain Junior Eurovision star was spotted. That star was Ireland’s 2017 entrant in Tbilisi, Muireann McDonnell! Muireann McDonnell backstage during tonight’s episode of The Voice Kids UK Follows the footsteps of Zena Donnelly Muireann follows in the footsteps of Zena Donnelly, Ireland’s entry at the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Valletta. Zena participated in The Voice Kids UK in 2017, successfully reaching the battle rounds! Now 13-year-old Muireann won the Irish national selection Junior Eurovision Éire in November 2017 with Súile glasa, co-written by herself alongside James McGuire. In Tbilisi, Súile glasa went on to finish in 15th place earning 42 of her 54 points via the online vote. (Editor’s note: One of the most unjust results in recent years!) CONFIRMED: Running order for the OGAE Second Chance Contest 2019

The songs and running order for the 33rd edition of the OGAE Second Chance Song Contest, has officially been revealed. The Italian fan club is organising this year’s contest after the country’s victory in 2018, with Annalisa’s “Il mondo prima di te”. Since 1987, the OGAE Second Chance Contest has been selecting songs that didn’t make it through the national final season. Each country’s official fan club puts forward a song to represent it at the annual competition that is organised by the previous year’s winning fan club. OGAE fan clubs then vote and deliver their results, exactly like the Eurovision Song Contest.
