With the long-awaited Cypriot artist announcement due next month, the drama is far from over. In response to rumours circulating that a member of the so-called ‘Dream Team’ has been dissuading artists from representing Cyprus, a statement has been released via Eurovision Fun. In recent days, rumours have been circulating that a member of the so-called ‘Dream Team’ had contacted an artist to dissuade them from representing Cyprus from Eurovision next year. ‘The Dream Team’ tends to consist of Dimitris Kontopoulos, Fokas Evangelinos and Philipp Kirkorov, among others. They have worked on iconic entries such as Ukraine’s “Shady Lady” (2008) and Russia’s “You’re The Only One” (2016). Through a joint statement released by Eurovision Fun, they have denied the rumours. San Marino’s Eurovision 2021 representative Senhit has already entertained us with Eurovision covers of ‘Cheesecake‘ and ‘Everyway That I Can‘ and ‘Ding-A-Dong‘, as she navigates her way to her participation for 2021. For the fourth instalment of her #FreakyTriptoRotterdam, Senhit has decided to make it a celebration, as she has chosen to cover Cliff Richard’s ‘Congratulations’, which placed 2nd at the 1968 Eurovision Song Contest. The continuation of the series, sees Senhit’s continued collaboration with Luca Tommassini, which we see her put a modern twist to a Eurovision classic, as well as mixing along the glitz and glamour we are familiar with from Senhit. ‘A magical celebration’ The release of the fourth entry to #FreakyTriptoRotterdam, fell on Senhit’s birthday. She’s no stranger to Eurovision – but now she’s jumping into the world of podcasts! Former Melodifestivalen entrant and host, Sarah Dawn Finer, will launch her own podcast “Talk To Me”, with the first episode out on Wednesday 7 October. Sarah will be joined by a different guest on each episode. The first episode will feature three-time Melodifestivalen star Danny Saucedo as guest. Currently, no other guests for the series have been announced. Joining the growing podcast world It’s definitely a growing industry, and now it’s time for Sarah to have a go at podcasts herself. Eurovision 2020 fan favourite Daði Freyr has announced today that he will be rescheduling his European tour, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The tour will now take place between March and June 2021, beginning in Gothenburg and ending in Munich. Daði was set to represent Iceland at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, before it was cancelled in March. Currently, it has not been confirmed whether he will return for the 2021 contest, however the dates of his rescheduled tour has sparked speculation amongst some fans… No dates for May? No matter the state of the world, one thing remains the same. There’s a new Just Dance game coming out! It’s ready to get people’s butts shaking and legs moving in front of their screens. The big news here for all of us Eurovision fans is the fact that Little Big’s ‘Uno’ will be one of the tracks featured on the soundtrack. Yes, soon (November 12, 2020 to be exact) you can put yourself to the test and try to re-create the choreography in your own living room. A cool and colorful little video posted on YouTube by Just Dance shows off the various cartoonish characters dancing along to the catchy song. It’s not just all leg shaking and splits either, there are plenty of new dance moves added to the mix. One of them even has the character’s head grow three times as big. The EBU has announced that Tinatin Berdzenishvili has been appointed as the new Director General of Georgian broadcaster GPB. A familiar face with plenty of experience Georgian Idol viewers will recognise Tinatin, as she has been a jury member on the show since it first aired. The GPB Board of Trustees, consisting of nine members, appointed Tinatin on a six-year term. The EBU released the following statement: Tinatin has more than 20 years of experience in the field of media and marketing communications. She has extensive experience in media management, strategic planning, digital media, and introducing new technologies.Tinatin has worked in many different positions at the GPB; since 2018 she has been the First Deputy Director General, while on August 18, 2020, after the resignation of the former Director General Vasil Maglapheridze, she was appointed Acting Director General. Following speculation that Croatia will be selecting their 2021 entry via DORA, HRT confirmed that the national selection will be returning. This ultimately means that Damir Kedžo will not be internally selected to represent Croatia next year. However, could he be returning to DORA to reclaim the ticket to Eurovision? Although HRT confirmed that they will be honouring their two-year contract with the venue in Opatija for DORA 2021. Italian broadcaster Rai officially announced that the Sanremo festival will have an audience in 2021. This makes Sanremo the first show of the 2021 national final season to announce that the shows with having an audience at the event. Rai also announced rules to keep everyone at the event safe. More will be revealed closer to the competition in March! Unless there are surprises the festival will take place at the beginning of March! Sanremo will have an audience and press attending the event in reduced numbers for the 2021 edition. This is what Rai announced this week at a press conference.
