…Charlotte Perrelli has found her hero? The 1999 Eurovision winner and her groom Anders tied the knot during a lavish wedding in France yesterday. The bride wore an elegant wedding gown by Elie Saab and these wonderfully sparkly shoes! Her new legal name will be Charlotte Jensen Perrelli, but she will keep performing as Charlotte Perrelli. …Loreen had some Mexican help becoming euphoric? In an interview with Elle magazine she admits to having taken part in priest led ceremonies where the psychedelic drug ayahuasca has been used as a tool for the participants to get more in touch with themselves and gain access to a larger part of their brains.  She first tried the drug four years ago, prior to her Eurovision victory. “It meant a lot to me, as it allowed me to look at myself from the outside” Loreen tells Elle. …Jedward are branching out? After finishing sixth in The X Factor (UK) and representing Ireland in both the 2011 and 2012 Eurovisions, they have among other things hosted children’s tv-shows and participated in Celebrity Big Brother. Lately, however, they have tried their luck on other arenas; film and fashion. 2015 has seen the twins both work their magic on the …
Summer releases – Part 6

Summer releases – Part 6

Last chapter of our “Summer releases” series 🙁 but hopefully lots of new music will be released during the rest of the summer and the year! Enjoy our recap below and don’t forget to give your opinions too! 😉 Željko Joksimović (Serbia) – Ranjena Zver One of the most important artists in the recent history of the ESC, Serbian Željko Joksimović, presented a song called “Wounded Beast” in the local version of X Factor (“X Factor Adria“), a show where Joksimović acts as judge. The track is quite a basic disco beat that doesn’t seem to be one of his creations, to be honest. Forgetting for a moment the fact that he wasn’t singing live on the show (where the contestants MUST do so to be judged by him!!), we could say the rhythm, the vocals and even the choreography and the outfits shown on the video above lack the power and elegance we would expect from one of his performances. The keyboard on a silver platter moment made me lose respect for Željko for the duration of that (painfully long and kinda pathetic) instrumental break. NEXT!! Kati Wolf (Hungary) – Utazás Kati, who represented Hungary in Düsseldorf 2011, published the official audio for “Utazás“ (“Journey”)  in late June. A …

…one Eurostar is heading for Kids’ TV fame, and another walked off the Eurovision stage and down the aisle? …a partnership that was thought to be ending isn’t, while a past bronze medalist has got a new job? …Iceland‘s María Ólafs took on the part of Stephanie in LazyTown this weekend? This happened in Stykkishólmur, a small town in West Iceland. And she will get to reprise the part this Saturday, participating in the LazyTown marathon, which is the children‘s 3k during Reykjavik marathon and Reykjavik Culture night. This LazyTown stint is originally supposed to be a twice off for María, but as she said to the newspaper Vísir on Friday; If these performances go well, perhaps I get to play  Stephanie again in the future.“ …everybody‘s favorite cheesecake, Teo, who represented Belarus in the 2014 contest, got married earlier this summer? Yup! Claiming to have found his cheesecake, he shared pictures from the happy day with his fans on Facebook. He and his wife Olga are now on their honeymoon in Spain. He told his fans; „Olga and me are married and we want 3 Kids !“. Hopefully he will also find the time to make some new music… …Norway‘s …

Summer releases – Part 5

Summer releases – Part 5

Hi everybody! This is the fifth chapter of our “summer releases” series, today dedicated to Scandinavian songs and including the fresh new single by Loreen, which was officially revealed a few hours ago but on the WWW earlier this week, plus other new Scandi tracks for all of you out there!!! Enjoy 😀 Loreen (Sweden) – I’m In It With You And yes, we begin our Scandinavian trip with the latest single coming out of “Paperlight”, Loreen’s second album. “I’m In It With You” is a deep and heartfelt love ballad with a powerful melody and hypnotic arrangements, which, together with Loreen’s voice, creates an ethereal atmosphere full of feelings that are impossible to ignore, while maintaining the mystical personality of the singer as part of the spirit of the song. Loreen sounds incredible in this kind of track, this is a huge hit in my book!! Gorgeous song I’ve played 5000 times already 🙂 Lena Philipsson (Sweden) – Jag Är Ingen Älskling Looking as fabulous as usual, Lena PH brings us a brand new song called “I Am No Sweetheart”, with text and music written by her, which she presented a few days ago as part of the Allsång På Skansen summer shows that SVT organises each …
Will Eurovision be next for Ronaldo’s family trophy cabinet?

Will Eurovision be next for Ronaldo’s family trophy cabinet?

Cristiano Ronaldo has thrice been awarded the Ballon d’Or and has scored more goals in the UEFA Champions’ League than any other player, but there’s something missing from the trophy cabinet of the dos Santos Aveiro family. Christiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro is likely to collect more silverware with Real Madrid and perhaps the Portuguese national team in 2016, but sister Katia Aveiro is looking towards Stockholm. Katia, 38, has had a stop-start pop career in Portugal over the last decade, and has developed a higher TV profile over the last couple of years, including the most recent series of Portugal’s ‘Dancing with the Stars’ franchise. Now the Madeiran songstress has taken to twitter to confirm she is keen to represent Portugal in Stockholm, saying: Eurofans, I’d love for you to support me in representing Portugal in Eurovision, it would be a dream! ‘Boom sem parar, above, is one of Katia’s most high profile releases, from 2013. One presumes that should officially aim for success at Festival de Canção, there’d be no shortage of funding or publicity to back her bid. That said, it remains to be seen whether Portugal sticks to the tried, tested and torpid Festival de Canção formula for 2016. Portugal …

#pauloscar #reykjavikpride #pinkvikingship

Last week Reykjavik Pride was celebrated in the world’s northernmost capital, with the parade and concert on Saturday as natural highlights. One third of the Icelandic population took to the streets to participate in the celebration, among them the Canadian ambassador to Iceland who marched in the parade with his husband.  And as always, Páll Óskar (aka Paul Oscar) rose to the occasion… As we reported a while back, he planned on outperforming his own white swan from last year’s parade with a pink viking ship, as a tribute to all the queer “vikings” who have been silenced in Iceland through the centuries, from settlement to today. In addition to rocking the parade, Páll Óskar also rocked, or rather danced, the Pride concert. He was the closing act, performing three songs, including his most recent hit, “Líttu upp í ljós” (Look Into the Light). You can listen to this below. His final song of the concert, though, was what he called “the national anthem. I mean *our* national anthem.” This song is currently the 7th most popular song in Iceland, and if you want to help keep it on the radio playlist, you can vote for it here. (You need to vote for 5 songs, …
Summer releases – Part 4

Summer releases – Part 4

Hi all!! A new week begins and it brings with it the fourth part of our summer releases recap/review!! Today, we’re gonna be travelling all over Europe for our analysis, so buckle up and enjoy the ride!! 😀 OPS (Romania) – S.A.M.P. (She’s After My Piano) This is the third version of this song we get to hear. The first version was performed by Belgian group 2 Fabiola when they competed at the 2014 Belgian national selection for Eurovision. Then, Ovi (composer of the song) made his own version with Paula Seling, for Ovi’s 2014 album “A Bit of Pop Won’t Hurt Anyone”. Time for version number 3 now: Fun track with that sort of 1940s trumpet/piano sound mixed with electro bits and the great vocals from the newly-formed duo OPS (same people, different name). Ovi and Paula, we love you but it is time to hear something brand new, don’t you think? Severina (Croatia) – Calimero This lady is absolutely nuts!!! You gotta love her sense of humour, regardless of liking her voice and/or the music she makes. “Calimero” is a track that can remind you of her ESC entry “Moja Štikla”, but in a slower tempo. There is not a …
