A Dal semifinal line-up complete with six more qualifiers

A Dal semifinal line-up complete with six more qualifiers

Hungary have found their eighteen semifinalists for A Dal 2019. In the third heat, another six acts managed to qualify. Among them was 2017 Eurovision Song Contest entrant Joci Pápai, who once again managed to impress, this time with his “Az Én Apám”. Surprises galore Joci Pápai did well again, scoring 41 points out of a possible 50. He is considered one of the frontrunners for the victory yet again, but tonight he had to share his victory with Bogi Nagy, who also scored 41 points. It was a rather surprising night altogether, as two of Hungary’s favourites didn’t manage to convince the jury enough to book their place directly. Both Leander Kills and USNK failed to qualify directly. The ByeAlex penned entry “Posztolj” is hugely popular on YouTube in Hungary, but received vast criticism from the juries, ending up only just above last place with just 35 points. The jury criticism didn’t bother USNK’s result all too much. In the end, the televoting saved them as their wildcard pick for the final, thus eliminating Leander Kills, Salvus, Monyo Project and Kyra. Below you can see the list with tonight’s result. The top five qualified through the jury vote and …

Eesti Laul: Six more qualifiers complete the final line-up!

Super-Saturday is about to reach its conclusion as one more show comes to an end. Following Thursday’s semi-final one, semi-final two of Eesti Laul quickly followed earlier tonight. Why? Because two comes after one. You might have missed all the excitement while trying to juggle 16 different tabs and streams, but six more lucky names were called out! Nothing new here. After combining both the jury and the public televotes, four qualifiers were announced in a random order: Sissi – “Strong”Kadiah – “Believe”Kerli Kivilaan – “Cold Love”Uku Suviste – “Pretty Little Liar” Because we weren’t kidding and the final really DOES need 12 performers and 4+6 just doesn’t add up to 12, another round of voting was opened exclusively for the public once again to determine the last two qualifiers: Lumevärv feat. INGA – “Milline päev” Sünne Valtri – “I’ll Do It My Way” Same as usual. we really don’t know how the votes were distributed, but the jury panel were more than happy to reveal who their top four were before the televotes came in: Sissi – “Strong” Kerli Kivilaan – “Cold Love” Lumevärv feat. INGA – “Milline päev” Uku Suviste – “Pretty Little Liar” And the 12 finalists go to… …the final. They go to …
Withdrawals cause changes in Croatia’s Dora 2019 line-up

Withdrawals cause changes in Croatia’s Dora 2019 line-up

Croatia’s National Broadcaster, HRT, has revealed that due to a few acts pulling out of their quest to find the next representative of the country at Eurovision, Dora’s 2019 line-up will suffer a few changes. As previously reported, 4 Tenora withdrew their song “Brod bez imena” from the competition due to a previous commitment. They were supposed to be replaced by Tonka and “Don’t say you love me”, however Tonka decided not to enter the competition so the final spot in the line-up went to Kim Verson and “Nisam To Sto Zele”. A backup for the backup! The concept of the selection requires for two backup acts to be added to the line-up due to other possible withdrawals. As the first possible replacement in case one of the acts decides to pull out from the race, we now have Patricija Gašparini   with “Pretend“. The probability of her being a part of the final version of the running order would be determined by withdrawal from one of the remaining sixteen acts. Despite HRT selectin Eni and Vejko with their song “Cudo” as the second backup, they decided to withdraw their bid for Dora and were replaced with Igor Delač  and “U …

Portugal: Marlon withdraws from Festival da Cançao 2019

Last month, RTP unveiled the sixteen songs that will be competing in Festival da Cançao 2019 for the chance to represent Portugal in Tel Aviv. However, two weeks ahead of the first semi-final, Marlon has decided to withdraw from the contest. This marks one of many withdrawals from the 2019 season so far… Marlon was due to perform ‘O Jantar’ (The Dinner) in semi-final 2 of Festival da Cançao on February 23rd. However, due to scheduling conflicts, he has decided to withdraw. Fortunately for ‘O Jantar’ fans, composer Pedro Podewas decided to find another singer to compete in his place. As a result, João Couto will replace Marlon at the contest.  You can listen to the new version of ‘O Jantar’ with João’s vocals below: João’s version of ‘O Jantar’ Another one bites the dust Marlon is one of many withdrawals from the 2019 season.
