An Xtra Happy Birthday; June 9th

Yesterday, we celebrated the birthdays of three Eurovision singers. Today we add one more, thus bringing you four former participants to help us celebrate. We give you two birthday boys and two girls, one of whom secured a top three result for her country. Marina Lizorkina turns 35 today!

Takis Biniaris, 63

Takis represented Greece at the 1985 Eurovision Song Contest in Gothenburg. He performed his own song “Miazoume”, finishing in 16th place. Six years later he tried his luck in the Greek pre-selection again, with the song “Opou ke na’ssai“, failing to reach Eurovision a second time.

Eric Papilaya, 40

Eric represented Austria at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki. He competed in the semi-final, with his song “Get a Life – Get Alive”, finishing in the same place he performed; second to last. He performed 27th on the night, and that was also where he finished; 27th out of 28 competing countries. Due to this result, he did not qualify for the grand final.

Marina Lizorkina, 35

Mariana Lizorkina represented Russia at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki. She did so as part of the girl group Serebro. They performed their song “Song 1”, finishing in third place.
