AMPTV have confirmed that Michael Grigoryan, known as Misha, will represent Armenia at this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Tbilisi, Georgia.  The song that Misha will sing in Tbilisi will premiere this coming Autumn. About Misha Misha is nine years old and started his musical career at the age of four. He was discovered by ‘Lira Kocharyan’ who made him an addition to the musical group ‘Voices of Artsakh’ Since becoming a member, Misha has performed in numerous international music competition. In doing so, returning to his home country with prestigious prizes. In addition to competing, he has also released first music video back his first music video back in 2015 ‘Poqrik Karabakhtsi”. The song is about love and peace and has been popular in Armenia. With Misha’s history of performing and competing, he also represented Armenia in the ‘New Wave Junior Competition, where he ended up being a runner up of. Former winners Spain will not return to Junior Eurovision

Despite registering the brand “Eurojunior” in 2015 TVE has confirmed that the country will not be returning to the contest. No return for the Iberian nation Earlier this year the new Head of Delegation for Spain Ana Maria Bordas has confirmed that Spain’s participation in this year’s Junior edition was yet to be decided. However, even with the high interest from the public, TVE has declined the invitation from the EBU to participate in the Junior contest this year. Spain at the Junior Eurovision Contest Spain is one of the inaugural contestants that debuted in Copenhagen, along with 15 other countries. In the first contest, Spain managed to achieve a respectable 2nd Place with Sergio’s song ‘Desde el Cielo’. Spain managed to win in 2004 with Maria and her song ‘Antes muerta que sencilla’ scoring 171 Points and receiving 12 points from 8 nations. Ukraine begins selection process for Junior Eurovision 2017

Ukraine broadcaster UA:PBC have confirmed their participation in this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest. From July 6th to August 6th singers aged 9 to 14 years will be able to submit their entries into the selection process. This will conclude with a final, with the winner determined by a jury and public vote. Jury and public vote On August 8th a semi final will be held for entries to perform in front of a jury, which will be broadcast on the UA:PBC YouTube channel. After this the date for the final will be announced, in which during the final the winner will be chosen by a jury and audience vote. This will be Ukraine’s 12th entry into the contest, with their best result coming in 2012 when they won the contest with Anastasiya Petryk’s entry ‘Nebo’. Last year in 2016, Sofia Rol represented Ukraine with the song ‘Planet Craves For Love’ coming 14th in the contest. Georgia will be hosting the 15th Junior Eurovision Song Contest this year on November 26, following their win in 2016. Belarus: Ten Junior Eurovision finalists revealed

Belarus released their national selection for Junior Eurovision 2017 a month ago. So, just like promised, the line up for the national final was revealed earlier today. 45 hopeful acts performed a grand total of 48 songs in front of a jury. The jury then went on to select 10 finalists that will battle it out for a golden ticket to Georgia. Finalists (in alphabetical order) Anastasiya Timofeyevich Anastasiya Zhabko Ariny Pekhterevoy & Anastasii Dmitrachkovoy Elina Mataras Khelena Meraai Kvartet Natsionalnogo tsentra detskogo tvorchestva im.V.Mulyavina Mariya Zhilina Ruslana Panchishina Stefaniya Sokolova Yaroslav Sokolikov Most noteworthy amongst the jury members we find Uzari (Belarus 2015). He helped choose the finalists with 6 other jurors who ranged from composers to singers and the deputy director of Belarus 1, Olga Salamakha. BTRC has said the entry would be chosen sometime before September 16th. However, the final date for the national selection remains unknown. This evening, PBS hosted the Maltese national final for the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Ten young talents covered a popular song in an attempt to earn the public’s votes. The show recently concluded and Gianluca Cilia is the winner! Therefore, Gianluca will now represent Malta in the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Tbilisi. In addition, PBS will internally select his song at a later date. Ten young talents wowed Malta! 84 artists applied to take part, with twenty going forward into a shortlist. Then, an expert jury then internally selected which ten would progress to this evening’s live final. Francesca Zarb hosted this evening’s show which featured ten great performances. MKRTV reveals F.Y.R. Macedonia will participate in Junior Eurovision 2017

The Junior Eurovision participants list is rapidly getting longer! Today, MKRTV confirmed that (F.Y.R.) Macedonia will be taking part in the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The Macedonian broadcaster confirmed this in a statement to our friends at Eurovoix.com. In addition, MKRTV has yet to disclose details as to how they will select their entry for Tbilisi. Meanwhile, RÚV has confirmed Iceland does not have any plans to debut in 2017. One of Junior Eurovision’s most dedicated countries Macedonia is one of Junior Eurovision’s most dedicated countries, who will have 13 participations to their name after this year’s contest. Indeed, only Belarus and The Netherlands have more. The Balkan nation made their debut in the first Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003. Furthermore, they have two top 5 finishes in their name. Rosica Kulakova & Dimitar Stojmenovski finished 5th in 2007 and Bobi Andonov did the same a year later. Martija became a firm fan favourite Last year, Martija Stanojković represented Macedonia finishing in 12th place. Albania: RTSH return to 2012 national selection format for Junior Eurovision 2017

A few days ago, Albania confirmed they would take part in the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Furthermore, RTSH has revealed that they will return to a selection format that is specifically for Eurovision. Indeed, Junior Fest Albania is to make a return in September. For the previous two years, RTSH used their traditional children’s music festival Festivali i Këngës për Femije to double up as a Junior Eurovision selection format. Dimbi dimbi damba je! In 2012, Albania used Junior Fest Albania to select their first ever Junior Eurovision Song Contest entry. Igzidora Gjeta won the show against 13 other young artists with Kam një këngë vetëm për ju. One of those other competitors was Mishela Rapo, who eventually went on to represent Albania on their next Junior Eurovision appearance in 2015. Mishela’s Dambaje won Festivali i Këngës për Femije in 2015 and scored a top 5 finish in Sofia. This remains Albania’s highest finish in the contest! We are well into summer now, and more and more countries are confirming their plans for the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. In a statement to Eurovoix.com, Estonian national broadcaster ERR revealed they have no intention to make their debut in Tbilisi. Nevertheless, there is some positive news. Also in a statement to Eurovoix.com, Italy have confirmed they will take part for a fourth consecutive year! Two top three finishes so far Italy’s participation will once again be the responsibility of RAI Gulp, the children’s channel at the broadcaster. This will mark Italy’s fourth entry in Junior Eurovision. On their debut at the 2014 contest in Malta, Vincenzo Cantiello took the victory with Tu primo grande amore. The following year, Chiara & Martina Scarpari finished in 16th place in Sofia with Viva. Nevertheless, Italy was back on form last year. In Valletta, Fiamma Boccia took home the third place trophy with the beautiful Cara Mamma (Dear Mom). Internal selection or national final? RTS confirms that Serbia will participate in Junior Eurovision 2017

Earlier today, Serbian national broadcaster RTS confirmed that the country would be participating in the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The contest is taking place in the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi on November 26th. RTS have also revealed that they are returning to an open submissions process to find their entry. Interested young artists have until August 15th to submit their applications. RTS reveal the rules RTS published a set of rules for the interested artists to follow. You can read them here in Serbian. Among the most important rules are that the artist must be between 9 and 14 years old on November 26th and be a citizen of Serbia. Their song must be performed in an official language of the country. In addition, either the lead artist or one of the other proposed on-stage performers must have contributed to the composition of the song. Finally, the song must not have been made public prior to May 1st of this year. A televised selection is unlikely Furthermore, RTS state that a jury panel will choose the winning application. The Netherlands returns to a televised final for Junior Eurovision 2017!

Last year, Kisses were internally selected to represent The Netherlands at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016. This was the first time that the Dutch broadcaster, AVROTROS, internally selected the Dutch entry, rather than giving the public the privilege. However, they have just revealed that they will return to a televised national final to select the entry for The Netherlands in Junior Eurovision this year! The Acts Six acts will compete in the Dutch final. They are: Manouk Montana Sezina Weke and Dylan A boyband whose name AVROTROS has not yet revealed, featuring Niels, Jannes, Max, and Ian A girlband whose name AVROTROS has also not yet revealed, featuring Luana, Manou, and Lois You can see each of the acts, and see a video featuring the moment that last year’s Dutch act, Kisses, revealed to them that they would be in the national final below!
