Junior Eurovision tickets to go on sale in August

Tickets for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 will go on sale from August according to press releases from the European Broadcasting Union and host broadcaster TVM today. Tickets will be sold online via a process to be announced by contest organisers in the coming weeks. In a move not unlike that taken by the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 host broadcaster DR, a slightly alternative venue in the form of another ship building yard has been chosen for the contest. Malta Shipbuilding, located in Marsa in the centre of Malta will host the contest on Saturday the 15th November 2014, with the venue being transformed into an arena with a capacity of up to 4,500 including 800 standing tickets. Return to Junior Eurovision for Cyprus

Return to Junior Eurovision for Cyprus

After four years away from the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and indeed missing this year’s main competition in Copenhagen, the island nation of Cyprus will this year return to the junior family. Despite hosting the competition in 2008, Cyprus’ last participation was a mere one year later when Rafaella Costa finished third last in 2009. As such, this will be the 7th year of 12 in which we see Cyprus at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Executive supervisor of Junior Eurovision Vladislav Yakovlev praised CyBC’s decision to return to the competition stating Cyprus’ participation in the first competition and former hosting as a “proud Junior Eurovision tradition” and alluding to plans already in motion by stating I’m very glad to see CyBC taking part again, and I don’t think they will be disappointed by the show Malta will put on! The return to Junior Eurovision should be marked by many fans as a positive sign of Cyprus’ commitment to the overall Eurovision brand, and surely points to at the very least an attempt to send an entry to next year’s Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Austria.
