Alexander Rybak’s New Release and Movie soundtrack feature

Alexander Rybak’s New Release and Movie soundtrack feature

It’s hard to believe that it’s just over 5 years since Europe fell in love with a Fairy Tale, thanks to Alexander Rybak. Since that night in Moscow in May 2009, the Norwegian fiddler has been busy traveling and working around the world. The sky is the limit for him as he is flying with his latest endeavor. Most recently Alexander has been involved, for a second time, with Dreamworks Animation movie: How To Train Your Dragon. The first installment of the movie was released in 2010, with Alexander voicing the young viking, Hikken, in the Norwegian version of the film. This July, the sequel: How To Train Your Dragon 2 will be released and not only will Alex’s speaking be used, in the Norwegian version, but also his singing. Dreamworks are using Rybak’s newest song “Into A Fantasy”, written specifically by him for the film. It will be featured at the end of the movie as the soundtrack for the credits. This is an exciting time for Alex as he previously had hopes of having one of his songs featured in the first movie, which unfortunately did not happen, but now it has. Rybak has spent the past few weeks touring with the …

She returned two years later, in 1992, as part of Heart 2 Heart, singing Nei Eða Já. She once again secured a top 10 position for Iceland, coming 7th. Her last appearance came in 1994, when she went solo and sang Nætur, coming 12th. The Reykjavik Pride will take place 5-10 August this year. Tina Karol – Pomnyu (I Remember) album

Tina Karol – Pomnyu (I Remember) album

The 2006 contest sweetheart Tina Karol from Ukraine is perhaps most remembered by the nowadays Eurovision fans for turning a forgettable pop song into show stopping vocal fireworks that was “Show Me Your Love”. Tina’s respectable 7th placing made sure that she would keep busy in her native Ukraine. Since the contest Tina Karol gained fame for her heart-breaking ballads even being awarded the Honored Artist of Ukraine title in 2009 and releasing a total of 4 albums since “Show Me Your Love”. Unfortunately, her career success did not translate into personal life. Her husband, a father of their child and longtime producer has died of stomach cancer in 2013. A documentary film about Tina’s life “The Power of  Love and Voice” was released. You can watch it here with English subtitles. “Pomnyu” which translates as “I Remember” is a homage to her late husband with the classic Karol sound that she is known for. “Zakrili tvoi ochi” or “Your Eyes Closed” in English is an intense ballad that Tina almost cries during. As the title suggests, the song deals with death and does not require language knowledge to understand the pain behind an emotional Tina. The song after which the album is …

Conchita Wurst conquers London

Conchita Wurst conquers London

Yesterday evening Conchita Wurst performed at London’s nightclub Heaven. A massive queue of people waiting to see this year’s Eurovision winner started forming around 11:30 p.m. and plenty were left outside as the venue was full around midnight.   It was roughly 1:30 a.m. when Wurst took on the same stage that has seen artists like Cher, Madonna, Kylie Minogue or Rita Ora. But before Conchita made her appearance Graham Norton was in charge of introducing her. She’s talented, she’s fabulous and she is unstoppable! The crowd was already cheering madly for Conchita when she opened the show with an acoustic version of Cher’s ‘Believe‘. She performed it in her usual style, that is, flawlessly. People were clearly expecting to listen ‘Rise Like A Phoenix’, but they’d have to wait, as the next song was a treat to Eurovision fans but completely new for the uninitiated. It was time for her previous attempt at reaching the Eurovision stage, ‘That’s What I Am‘. Even though the vast majority of the crowd did not really know the song, reaction was immediate and people danced through the three minutes. A cheering crowd was about to receive what they had gone for. Third in …
