The Scoop

See ABBA return to the studio to record their new comeback songs!

Back in April, we received news that ABBA would return at the end of this year as a virtual band in a television special produced by NBC and the BBC. Shortly following that announcement, ABBA then announced that as a result of this, the four-piece had returned to the recording studio for the first time in 35 years. Images of ABBA back in the studio have now emerged via the band’s Instagram page!

Fans kept the faith

One of the two new tracks will be titled I Still Have Faith In You and will be performed by the virtual ABBA in the end-of-year television special. The band’s manager, Görel Hanser, published the following photos of the studio session that resulted in these two brand new ABBA songs!

Eurovision’s ultimate success

Of course, ABBA rose to international fame after winning the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest with Waterloo. Throughout their career, the Swedish band have released more than 70 singles as well as eight studio albums. Their ABBA Gold: Greatest Hits compilation is one of the best-selling albums of all time, with sales claimed to have surpassed 30 million worldwide. The collection has gone 17 times platinum in the United Kingdom and Australia, 6 times platinum in the United States and diamond in Canada and France!
Indeed, as we speak, 26 years after release, ABBA’s Gold is still sitting pretty inside the top 30 of the UK albums chart after spending 22 of its 26 years inside the top 75 of the chart:

Mamma Mia! Here we go again…

More recently, the ABBA back catalogue has been re-imagined in the form of Mamma Mia! as a musical theatre stage show and a blockbuster movie. A sequel to the original movie, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is scheduled for release next month!
