Turin 2022🇮🇹 Italy

“The Sound of Beauty” branding and slogan revealed for Eurovision 2022

Turin will host this year's Eurovision Song Contest

As Turin prepares for the semi-final allocation draw on Tuesday, the branding and slogan for Eurovision 2022 looks to have been revealed on banners around the city. Every year since 2002 (with the exception of 2009), the hosts have developed a slogan along the theme artwork. This year, the slogan is “The Sound of Beauty”.

Update: The official Eurovision Twitter account has just confirmed the slogan and the theme art. The inspirations behind the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 slogan and theme art will be revealed on Monday 24 January.

The branding and slogan were first spotted on Twitter earlier today, as the city gets prepared to host the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time. The branding adopts a predominantly purple colour scheme. The slogan “The Sound of Beauty” is found on top of the banners. It is unknown whether there will be a separate logo alongside the branding. No news has yet been confirmed by the EBU or RAI.

From “A Modern Fairytale” to “The Sound of Beauty”

Several Twitter users shared their finds of the branding on Twitter today, which is the first time any branding has been seen for this year’s contest. Many fans were wondering when they would get the first glimpse of branding – now, you have… we think!

The history of the Eurovision slogan goes back to 2002 when Estonia chose “A Modern Fairytale” as the first ever Eurovision slogan. Since then, every contest – except 2009 – has had a slogan, including “Confluence of Sound”, “All Aboard” and “Open Up”.

“The Sound of Beauty” would be the third four-word slogan, after Istanbul’s “Under the Same Sky” in 2004 and Dusseldorf’s “Feel Your Heart Beat” in 2011. We’ve debated the subject of slogans in the past, after some slogans have arguably been disliked among fans. “All Aboard” came out on top of our Xtra editor vote back in 2019, as the favourite slogan with 86% of the vote.

Slogans often showcase a country’s culture – has this been done with Turin? We will probably see the slogan built into more advertising over the next few months – subject to this being the final slogan of course, and not just an early working version! Remember, nothing has been officially confirmed.

41 countries will take part in this year’s contest in Turin, with the return of Armenia and Montenegro. It was announced in October that Turin would host the contest, after beating out 16 other potential host cities. The contest will be held in the PalaOlimpico with the grand final on Saturday 14th May.
