Tonight the second semi of Iceland’s Söngvakeppnin took place, and two more songs were sent directly to the final next Saturday. Like last week there were five songs competing for the two tickets to the final, where they will join last week’s direct qualifiers Stefán Óli and Sigga, Beta og Elín.

Tonight’s two direct qualifiers were Reykjavíkurdætur with “Tökum af stað” and Katla with her song “Þaðan af”. They will join last week’s qualifiers, Stefán Óli and Sigga, Beta & Elín in the grand final next week. All the four direct qualifiers were decided by 100% televote.
As always, a jury had the option of sending “eitt lag enn” (one more song) through to the final, which they decided to do. They gave the wildcard to sister and brother duo Amarosis with “Don’t You Know”, who competed in the first semi.
Stefán Óli, Reykjavíkurdætur and (presumably) Amarosis will switch to the English versions of their entries for Söngvakeppnin. Sigga, Beta & Elín chose not to record an English version, with Katla sticking to Icelandic for now. This gives us the following line-up in the final next Saturday:

- Sigga, Beta og Elín – Með hækkandi sól
- Reykjavíkurdætur – Turn This Around
- Katla – Þaðan af
- Amarosis – Don’t You Know
The final running order has not been announced.
In the first semifinal the band GusGus, one member being Daníel Ágúst (Það sem enginn sér, 1989) performed their version of “Is It True” during the interval. Tonight we were treated to the amazing GDRN with her take on “Open Your Heart”.
The final interval act was announced weeks ago; Ukraine’s Go_A. However, tonight the hosts told us that, due to the war in Ukraine, they won’t be able to make it. Instead, last year’s Swedish participant Tusse, will take their place.
