Luka Cruysberghs rejected by VRT for Eurosong 2023

Belgium’s Flemish broadcaster VRT is selecting their entry by means of a National Final called Eurosong. On 15th December 2022, the 14 snippets of the songs that will take part in Eurosong were released. Unfortunately, one prominent Belgian name was missing: Luka Cruysberghs.

Luka Cruysberghs was supposed to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 as a band member of Hooverphonic with the song Release Me. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the contest was cancelled and Luka never got her chance to stand on the Eurovision stage in 2020. Luka’s fortunes became worse after it was announced that Geike Arnaert would replace Luka as lead singer of Hooverphonic meaning that she wouldn’t get to participate in Eurovision 2021 either.

Luka aimed for a 2023 return

Taking to Twitter, the former lead singer of Hooverphonic revealed that she tried to represent Belgium in Eurovision 2023. Replying to a tweet about her song Lied To You that she sings with Andromedik, it is speculated that the song was intended for Eurosong 2023.
