Armenia to host Junior Eurovision 2022!

The EBU has confirmed that they will be working with ARMTV to organise the 20th anniversary edition of Junior Eurovision next year!

This weekend, Armenia won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest with “Qami Qami” by Maléna. Following their victory, the EBU has confirmed that Armenia will be hosting the 2022 contest next year. Armenia previously hosted the 2011 contest in Yerevan.

10 years ago, Yerevan hosted its first Eurovision event following the victory of Vladimir Arzumanyan, who triumphed with “Mama” at the 2010 contest in Minsk, Belarus.

Over a decade later, the trophy has returned to Armenia following Maléna’s stunning victory. The EBU has now confirmed that they will be working with ARMTV to organise the 20th anniversary edition of Junior Eurovision next year!

Armenia at Junior Eurovision 2021

Last year, Maléna was internally-selected by ARMTV to represent Armenia with the song “Why”. Unfortunately, the broadcaster eventually withdrew from the contest. Back in November, her return was sealed with the release of her 2021 entry “Qami Qami, which was produced by tokionine and written by Vahram Petrosyan, tokionine, David Tserunyan and Maléna herself.

In a nail biting voting sequence, Armenia topped the scoreboard with 224 points. Poland’s Sara James finished in second place with 218 points. In the online voting breakdown, it was revealed that Armenia beat Poland in the online vote by approximately 27,000 votes.

Maléna’s victory gives Armenia their second Junior Eurovision win after previously winning the competition in 2010 with the song Mama, performed by Vladimir Arzumanyan.
