Petah Tikva joins race to host Eurovision 2019

It’s only been two weeks since Netta’s win at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon and the discussion about next year’s host city is already in full swing. For now, people only paid attention to Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. For now. Petah Tikva now joins the race to host the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. Moreover, they deliver some strong points about why the city would be a good host city for next year.

Petah Tikva to host Eurovision 2019?

For now, the main focus has been on Tel Aviv and Jerusalem when everybody was talking about the possible host city for next year. So far Tel Aviv is not interested in hosting and it seems that Jerusalem might not be the first choice of the EBU. Petah Tikva might be the perfect choice to solve the problem. The mayor is very interested and thinks that Eurovision would be a great boost for the city to be more known in the world. There is already a Facebook event with hundreds of people from the city supporting the bid to host the contest next year.

Where is Petah Tikva?

Petah Tikva is the 5th biggest city in Israel. The city name means “Opening of hope”. It’s located only 10km east of Tel Aviv and was founded in 1878. Petah Tikva is part of the Tel Aviv Metropolitan Area.
