About “Halo”
The official radio premiere of “Halo” took place this morning on Ö3-Wecker. The music video, directed by Tessa Kadletz, was released shortly after the radio premiere. The artists LUM!X and Pia Maria say the song is about having fun, but it also gives you strength.
I see “Halo” as a comeback song. A comeback of a whole generation sitting at home. Now we can finally go out and party again, visit clubs and have fun. The steady energy of “Halo” provides the perfect soundtrack for that. From songwriting to production, everything is adapted to a party song that still captures the spirit of the times and has its place as pop music on the radio.

The song is written by Norwegian songwriter and music producer Anders Nilsen, Swedish songwriter Rasmus Flyckt, American-Canadian songwriter, the daughter of rock legend Gene Simmons and actress Shannon Tweed, Sophie Alexandra Tweed-Simmons, Eiffel 65 member Gabriele Ponte and Luca “LUM!X” Michlmayr himself.
For me, the song is about strength. “Halo” gives me an incredible amount of strength. It’s one of those songs that makes you feel like you can do anything.

The 19-year-old DJ LUM!X has gained success with hits such as “The Passenger (LaLaLa)” and “Thunder“. In 2019, he released the song “Monster” with Gabry Ponte, who he also worked on “Halo” with. The song has reached over 215 million streams on Spotify and it has sold more than 400,000 copies in Germany, giving the artists a platinum record. Overall, he has over one billion streams, over 10 million monthly listeners on Spotify and multiple platinum and gold certifications.
At the Eurovision Song Contest, LUM!X is will compete together with 18-year-old Tyrolean Pia Maria. Pia Maria is a trained make-up artist at the Tyrolean State Theatre and began writing songs at the age of 15. The singer still has little stage experience, but an extraordinary voice. She is looking forward to the challenge, because music has always been her great passion.
Austria will compete in the first semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin. LUM!X feat. Pia Maria will perform on the second half of the show on May 10th. Last year Austria was represented by Vincent Bueno. He represented the country with “Amen” but failed to qualify to the final. Last time we saw Austria in the final in 2018, where César Sampson finished third with “Nobody but You”.
