Ten of the best new songs from Eurovision artists!

Another week comes to an end and that means it’s New Music Friday! So it’s time to share the best new releases from the Eurovision world, and they’re busier than ever as the door on the 2023 season opens. Over the following pages is everything you need to know for your weekend playlists!

Subwoolfer – ‘Having Grandma Here For Christmas’

As December begins to flash before our eyes, it is that time of year when Eurovision artists turn New Music Friday into New Music Christmas! Yes, even intergalactic space wolves still find time to celebrate the festive season. This year, Norway’s 2022 act Subwoolfer, want to be on Santa’s naughty list as they take ‘Having Grandma Here For Christmas’… very literally! These wolves always have room for more, so make sure Grandpa is safe too.

‘Having Grandma here for Christmas’ is something we have been preparing for all year. She was a tough cookie but we eventually managed to twist her arm enough for her to agree to fill our hearts and stomachs with holiday joy.

KEiiNO – ‘Nights of Thunder’

Amidst strong rumours of a possible Melodi Grand Prix comeback and recently winning Aussievision’s annual top 100 national final countdown for the second year running, the Eurovision 2019 televote winners, KEiiNO are back this week with their latest single. In ‘Nights of Thunder’ the pulsing, thunderous beat is tinged with an air of melancholy, as Alexandra’s vocals glide along the calm of the stirring violin strings to reflect on a story of old memories and the sadness they invoke. A stark, but also welcome contrast to the usual positive nature within their discography.

Ulrikke – ‘Her vi hører til’

Another former Eurovision artist weaving many threads on the Melodi Grand Prix 2023 rumour mill, is Ulrikke. Ahead of her annual Christmas concerts, she releases, ‘Her vi hører til’. With all the wistful nostalgia of a cosy eggnog before the Christmas chaos, this Yuletide ballad reflects on the warmth and comfort of a loved one, but not without a hint of uncertainty and need for reassurance, as the cold Winter draws in.
