Tonight we will find out who will represent Iceland in the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest. Five finalists are competing for the right to fly the Icelandic flag in Turin in May.
Two voting rounds
The winner of Söngvakeppnin 2022 will be decided over two rounds of voting. In the first round five songs will be reduced to two, who will then go head to head in the duel. The two songs that will go through to the duel will be decided by a 50/50 split between televote and an international jury. However, a 100% televote will decide the winner of the duel.
The jury
Musicians, tv-people and fans, from Iceland, Finland, Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands make up this year’s international jury. The members of the jury are:
- Daði Freyr – Musician – Iceland
- Heidi Välkkilä – Head of marketing at YLE – Finland
- Ragnheiður Gröndal – Musician – Iceland
- Stig Karlsen – Project manager at NRK – Norway
- Tusse – Musician – Sweden
- Sóley Stefánsdóttir – Musician – Iceland
- Barry Van Corneval – Organizer of Eurovision in Concert – The Netherlands
Last year’s Icelandic participant, Daði Freyr (and Gagnamagnið) and Tusse, who represented Sweden in Eurovision Song Contest 2021, will also perform during tonight’s final.
Iceland in ESC 2022
The Icelandic entry will be performed in the second half of the first semifinal of Eurovision Song Contest 2022, on 10 May.
