Radio Television of Albania has called for singers and authors to compete at the 54th annual Festivali i Këngës. The commercial ad aired on TVSH 1 these days, left us very curious and raised many questions as the broadcaster, unlike other years, decided not to mention the detailed rules of the contest.

Last year’s call for entries briefly mentioned that the authors and singers must be of Albanian background, regardless of their place of residence. Does this mean that the RTSH has finally opened its very traditional doors to international composers and songwriters? Well, escXtra contacted the Albanian HoD at Eurovision and despite them not giving us a clear answer, they said that that is very unlikely – this year, at least. (We’re still hopeful, RTSH!)

Interested singers can only submit one song and songwriters are eligble to submit two songs. The broadcaster will be accepting songs on the 29th and 30th of September. You can watch the ad below:
