Tonight, the final of Eesti Laul will take place in Saku Suurhall, the same location that hosted Eurovision 2002. Ten acts are still in the running, and the winner will proceed to represent Estonia in Stockholm. The best song will be selected over two rounds of voting: in the first round, a 50-50 combination of jury and televoting results will determine the three superfinalists. Out of these three superfinalists, the winner will be chosen by 100% televoting. The running order for tonight’s show is:

  1. Laura – Supersonic
  2. Go Away Bird – Sally
  3. Mick Pedaja – Seis
  4. Grete Paia – Stories Untold
  5. Kéa – Lonely Boy
  6. Jüri Pootsmann – Play
  7. Kati Laev & Noorkuu – Kaugel Sinust
  8. Cartoon feat. Kristel Aaslaid – Immortality
  9.  Meisterjaan – Parmupillihullus
  10. I Wear* Experiment – Patience

The show begins at 18:30 CET and can be viewed on ERR’s official website or eurovision.tv. Preview tonight’s songs and see what our editors think right here and here.

Good evening Europe, we are live from Saku Suurhall!

Here are last year’s winners – Elina & Stig, with their song Goodbye to Yesterday.

One would think this is a national final and not the biggest party in Estonia – the audience seems to love it though.

Jon Ola Sand is here too!

Electro Velvet is a real inspiration in Estonia, just look at Laura and Kristel Aaslaid!

Song #1: Laura – Supersonic

Laura is one of the favourites for the win, and I can definitely see why! Even though I think she sounded better in the semi-final, her vocals were pretty good, and the overall act was enjoyable. However, the staging gets a bit boring after the first two minutes. I would say she is a sure superfinalist anyway.

Song #2: Go Away Bird – Sally

This song is one of my favourites tonight, but the performance is disappointing. Hanna’s vocals were really bad, and I think this will cost them a lot. She gets plus points for that blue hair though.

March 5, 20166:01 pm

Song #3: Mick Pedaja – Seis

First of all, his vocals were much better in the semi-final. The song is mysterious and the staging fits well, so this one might be tonight’s dark horse, but I can’t see Mick winning.

Katarina Ilanković
March 5, 20166:07 pm

Song #4: Grete Paia – Stories Untold

This staging is my favourite so far, and Grete looks (and sounds) like a true Eurovision star! Her vocals were on point, and hopefully she’ll be able to convince the juries to give her high marks. I wouldn’t mind hearing this song in May too.

Song #5: Kéa – Lonely Boy

This song is extremely boring for me, even though Kéa sounds amazing live. But what is that huge light covering her whole face? It ruined the performance in my opinion.

March 5, 20166:22 pm

Song #6: Jüri Pootsmann – Play

Play is my favourite song tonight, so I had high expectations, and Jüri didn’t disappoint me! The staging was much better than in the semi-final, and so were his vocals. I must also compliment the backing vocalists, who improved a lot since the last show. The audience also loved this act, and hopefully he has what it takes to win.

Katarina Ilanković
March 5, 20166:28 pm

Song #7: Kati Laev & Noorkuu – Kaugel Sinust

I’ll be honest, I didn’t pay much attention to this song before the semi-final, but her performance was amazing, and so is it tonight! Kati has the best vocals so far, and just like in the semi-final, she is dressed like a true star again. I am also really happy she decided to sing in Estonian.

Song #8: Cartoon feat. Kristel Aaslaid – Immortality

The staging for this song is fascinating, but I can’t say the same about Kristel’s vocals. It’s another sure superfinalist, the audience loved it, but I’m not sure I want this act to win.

Katarina Ilanković
March 5, 20166:42 pm

Song #9: Meisterjaan – Parmupillihullus

One word for this act: strange. The amount of support Meisterjaan gets actually worries me, we certainly don’t need a “novelty” act from Estonia. But he has some appeal that I can’t deny, who knows, maybe we will see him in the superfinal.

Song #10: I Wear* Experiment – Patience

This performance is just like Kéa’s – an amazing vocalist with a rather boring song. I can just hope I Wear* Experiment will come back one year with a better song, but right now this only makes me yawn.

Time for a thirty minute break so we can now watch Estonian news, I am sure those of us who don’t speak the language will love this.

The superfinal voting is open now, the winner will be determined by 100% televoting.

Katarina Ilanković
March 5, 20168:11 pm

Isac Elliot is performing now, and it sounds like about half of the audience is only here because of him.

Katarina Ilanković
March 5, 20168:18 pm

I can just say, if Cartoon win, that sure won’t be because of Kristel’s vocals.

Katarina Ilanković
March 5, 20168:23 pm

Another interval act – the Estonian song from Eurovision 1996.

Katarina Ilanković
March 5, 20168:27 pm

The third place is: Cartoon feat. Kristel Aaslaid!

Katarina Ilanković
March 5, 20168:27 pm

Katarina Ilanković

Jüri Pootsmann will represent Estonia in Stockholm with his song ‘Play’!

Katarina Ilanković
March 5, 20168:35 pm

That’s it for this year, have a good night everyone and congratulations to Jüri!

I'm a 16 year old Serbian eurofan, currently living in Budapest. I've been passionate about Eurovision since 2009, but watched it in 2003 already. When I am not listening to ESC songs, I enjoy watching sports or reading. I am fluent in English, Serbian and Hungarian and I love learning new languages. My ultimate favourite national selection is Eesti Laul.
