HERE we have it! The long anticipated arrival of the Australian entry into this years Eurovision Song Contest! The song is called Sound of Silence performed by Dami Im.

A 40 second teaser clip was released yesterday teasing audiences with what was to come and continuing to tease us with SBS2’s The Feed news show. But now we finally have it!

Shooting to fame after winning the Xfactor in 2013, Im has become a staple of the Australian music industry knowing for her prowess on the piano and her huge vocals. Having won piano competitions since an early age, not to mention 2 ARIA awards, and her Bachelor Degree of music and her Masters of Arts, Dami is no hollow games show winner – she is a legitimate musician! After last weeks announcement by the reigning queen of Eurovision Conchita, Dami performed Abba’s iconic Waterloo and promptly brought down the (Sydney Opera) house!

Yet another song that proves Australia is taking the competition very seriously and is serious competition. As Im said herself on the night of her announcement “look out Sweden – the Aussies are coming!”

An Australian from Melbourne who's passion exploded after our first ever inclusion and my first ever attended ESC. Don't worry I've been heavily into it since 2004, even taking over a high school assembly with my own (in hindsight terrible) version. Relatively new to the ESC community, but with a background in media and theatre, I only look forward to my yearly (but lengthy) pilgrimage.
