Last night, viewers of the long-running BBC soap EastEnders saw a famous face turn the heads of the Queen Vic regulars! Olly Alexander made a brief appearance in Albert Square and was introduced as the friend of Johnny Carter, (played by Charlie Suff). Fans of the 33-year-old would have noticed the subtle hint to Olly’s real world life with Johnny explaining that he and the ex-Years & Years frontman, “go way back” … “Years and years, in fact.”

During the cameo, there were references to Olly’s upcoming performance at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö on Saturday May 11th representing the United Kingdom with, ‘Dizzy‘. The Queen Vic regulars were told that Olly is, “gonna try to win” and mentioned that he has “got rehearsals around the corner.” Johnny described ‘Dizzy’ as “a banger!” As well as offering his services as a backup dancer. To which the star responded: “Johnny – I wanna win, babe. If the UK has to rely on your two-step, we’re all doomed. So, wish me luck!” You can watch Olly Alexander’s guest appearance below:

I’m thrilled to be making my first appearance on EastEnders and in the most iconic pub in the UK. I’m so happy I got to meet some true screen legends and spend time on set with the brilliant cast and crew. I wanted to surprise my mum as it’s her favourite show but I guess the cat is out of the bag now, she’s gonna love it!
