A new Eurovision season has officially started, and with that, the rumours are starting to come in.

It’s no secret that Sweden loves Eurovision. Their national final, Melodifestivalen, is one of the most elaborate and popular national selections among Eurovision fans. And this year, there’s extra pressure for any competing artists since the winner has to defend the Swedish title: can the chosen act do as well as Loreen and bring the contest to Sweden for the second time in a row?

The Swedes are already buzzing with excitement for the selection, and this reflects in the media. Swedish paper Aftonbladet has revealed four alleged participants in the 2024 selction. And it’s a star-studded cast:

Fan-favorite returning

According to Aftonbladet, Dotter will try her hand at winning Melodifestivalen for the fourth time. She first tried in 2018 with “Cry”, then in 2020 with “Bulletproof”, and then in 2021 with “Little Tot”. During the years, fans have grown to adore the Swedish starlet – will 2024 be the year she gets to fly the Swedish Eurovision flag in Malmö?

You can listen to “Bulletproof”, the song that finished second in 2020, right here:

Idol-winner returning

Liamoo is the second alleged artist. He won Swedish Idol in 2016 and has competed in Melodifestivalen in 2018, 2019 and 2022. His most successful attempt was in 2019 with the song “Hold you” that was a duet with Hanna Ferm. You can listen to the duet right here:

Hard Rock Hallelujah?

Smash Into Pieces is the third alleged act for Melfest. The rock band has existed since 2018 and participated in Melodifestivalen 2023 where they finished third. You can hear their song “Six Feet Under” right here:

Oldie but goldie

The fourth and final alleged act is Lasse Stefanz, a dance-band fronted by 67 year old Jönsson. The band was formed in 1967, and they have competed in Melodifestivalen once before, back in 2011. They were, however, knocked out in “Andra chansen”.

You can listen to their song, “En Blick Och Nånting Händer”, right here:
