🇳🇴 Raylee: “There’s no shortcut to the final”

Ahead of the Melodi Grand Prix 2021 final, we had the chance to speak to some of the participants who have qualified for the final. This time, we were able to speak to Raylee, who will be competing next Saturday with her entry ‘Hero’.

Melodi Grand Prix, and returning this year

2021 sees Raylee compete in Melodi Grand Prix for the third time. Her first participation was in 2015, with the song ‘Louder’. Last year Raylee returned to the competition for her second attempt with ‘Wild’, which managed to reach the Gold Final. Speaking about her experience, she mentioned that it was ‘overwhelming’ but she loved her experience, especially as ‘Wild’ became a huge hit in Norway.

Speaking about what motivated her to return to the competition, she mentioned what happened with the ‘voting’ and that she felt that she had to come back, and put on a better performance than she did with ‘Wild’.

Raylee’s Semi-Final experience

Speaking about competing this year, fans have wondered why Raylee was not an automatic qualifier. However, she mentioned that she felt that she needed to compete for her spot in the final, and that there is no shortcut to the final.

When asked about her performance, she mentioned that she had fun, and revealed that in between the duels there were four people helping her get ready for her second performance and that she was relieved when it was announced that she’s won her spot for the final.

Raylee is among the acts competing in this year’s Melodi Grand Prix, in order to represent Norway at the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest, due to take place in Rotterdam. There will be 12 acts competing in this year’s final, taking place in February 20.
