As we have reported earlier already, there are some well-known names returning to Melodifestivalen this season. Now, the Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet announced some more participants taking part in the contest. Among others we find no one less than Robin Stjernberg who has won Melodifestivalen in 2013 and placed 16th in Malmö driving us all crazy-hy with his catchy love song “You”. This time, though, he’s not going to be on stage himself but contributing a song for singer Linda Bengtzing instead.
41-year-old Linda Bengtzing has taken part in Melodifestivalen in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2011, and 2014. So maybe the sixth time will be the charm for her now with the help of Robin Stjernberg who has written a cheesy song in Swedish for her, according to Aftonbladet. We will see if Linda is going to act on the Eurovision clichés that she herself has released the parodistic song “Värsta Schlagern” about.
Aftonbladet states further that the organizers of Melodifestivalen are working on having Molly Sandén in this year’s starting field. Molly is known to Eurovision fans as she has represented Sweden at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2006 making it to 3rd place. In 2009 and 2012, she has already taken part in Melodifestivalen. According to Aftonbladet, SVT sees Molly as the possible winner of Melodifestivalen if she can be convinced to get on board.
Another candidate that is reportedly already set is the rock band Eclipse. They for once have no Melodifestivalen history so far, but are well-established in the Swedish rock scene. Here is a glimpse of their melodic hard rock tunes from their latest album “Armageddonize”:
