Given current world events, time is even more illusory than usual. However, it is slightly surreal to realise it has been 8 (eight!) whole years since Nina Zilli took to the stage in Baku with the wonderfully sassy ‘L’amore è femmina’. Last week, the sublime songstress released a new single – ‘Schiacciacuore’. The song, which collaborates with rapper Nitro is a bright summery track.
Releasing the song on the 5th June is by no means accidental, coinciding with World Environment Day. Indeed, the song lyrics consistently refer to floral-based imagery and metaphors. Schiacciacuore is also the name of a plant which Nina Zilli created an account for to track its flourishing growth in an uncertain lockdown-world.
Keen Eurovision / Sanremo fans might already know the connection between the singer and Italy in this years Eurovision that never quite was. Diodato, Sanremo 2020 winner and this years selected entrant for Italy, was accompanied with Nina Zilli on the third evening of the weeklong event.
