🇮🇹 “Volevo essere un duro” goes to Eurovision
Rai has announced that Lucio Corsi will bring his Sanremo song “Volevo essere un duro” to Eurovision. Lucio finished just 0.4 percentage points behind Olly in the superfinal of Sanremo. “Volevo essere un duro” was awarded the Mia Martini award, for the best song as judged by the musical critics. On the cover night, on Friday, Lucio performed “Nel blu, dipinto di blu” by Domenico Modugno, featuring the iconic puppet mouse Topo Gigio.
In the press release, Rai also state that they congratulate Olly as the winner of Sanremo and wish him a successful career.
Lucio Corsi was born in 1993 in Grosseto, Tuscany. His parents own a restaurant in the countryside. His mother is an amateur painter and his father has had various jobs, among others at Rai. After high school, Lucio moved to Milan to pursue a musical career. Lucio’s musical influences include Genesis and Peter Gabriel, but also Italian artists like Flavio Giurato and Ivan Graziani. He released his first EP in 2014. The following year, he released his first album Altalena Boy/Vetulonia Dakar, which combines two EPs. The album was well-received and led to Lucio being compared to artists such as David Bowie and Tim Burton. His first studio album, Bestiario musicale, was released in 2017. In 2018, Lucio was part of Gucci’s Cruise 2018 campaign, starring as a runway model at Palazzo Pitti in Florence. He has since released two more albums (Cosa faremo da grandi? in 2020 and La gente che sogna in 2023).
