🇳🇱 Duncan Laurence turned down “Fire Saga” cameo

A key man was noticeably missing.

The winner and reigning champion of the Eurovision Song Contest, Duncan Laurence, revealed that he turned down the opportunity to appear alongside other Eurovision alumni as a cameo role in the Eurovision Movie – “The Story Of Fire Saga”.

His managment team did confirm to BuzzE that Laurence was approached by the makers of the movie to have a walk on role, but he turned it down due to a “scheduling problem”.

Duncan Laurence was there…well…kind of!

But some eagle eyed viewers of the movie might have noticed that the film did have an Easter Egg as that the main character Will Ferrell played a keyboard as part of the “Fire Saga” staging. This keyboard is the exact same one that was used by Duncan in his stage performance in Tel Aviv for his staging in “Arcade”. Another nod to Tel Aviv 2019 was the feature of a man in the crowd wearing a similar shirt to Mahmood’s during his performance of “Soldi”.

Some were surprised.

There were some who did express surprise that Duncan wasn’t in the movie anyway despite “scheduling conflicts” none more so than Dutch Eurovision commentator, Conrad Maas who had this to say.

Certainly because Duncan was number 1 with the bookmakers in advance and was a favourite for the overall victory.
