After an 18-months-long hiatus due to Danny Ervin’s cancer diagnosis, the 2023 Australian representative are coming back, with a song about Danny’s struggle with the disease.
So hold me now, ‘cause I’ve seen better days
Voyager took part in Eurovision 2023 for Australia, when they qualified for the Final in Liverpool. After that, the band went on tour to promote their new album, with the contest used as a springboard to boost their musical career.
In September 2023, however, frontman and singer Danny Ervin was diagnosed with cancer, and went on to receive immediate treatment. This meant that Voyager had to cancel their European tour, and later on their Australian 2024 “Fearless in love” tour, to accompany Danny in his treatment and recovery.
Things now look better, and today the band premiered their new single, “Seen Better Days”. The lyrics speak of Danny’s experience of the past few months, and the music is fully in line with the synthetic, progressive rock sound the band has produced these past few years.
Live shows coming
The Western Australian band has also announced two live shows in Perth in June and July:
- An “all-age” family show on June 21, at 2pm, at the Rosamund Hotel
- A full live show only opened to people over the age of 18, on July 4 at the Magnet House
The first show has already been sold-out.
In 2023, Voyager represented Australia with the song “Promise”, finishing in 9th place in the final after having won the second semi-final.
