RESULTS: Who is leading after round 1 of Eurovision Prediction 2019?

Over the past couple of weeks, a record-breaking 184 of you took part in round 1 of Eurovision Prediction 2019! This time, it was your task to predict who you thought would win the Albanian national final. This evening, Jonida Maliqi won Festivali i Këngës 57 and therefore the Albanian ticket to Tel Aviv! Calculating your points! As we revealed prior to this evening’s final, the most popular answer amongst our players in this round was Jonida Maliqi. Therefore, her victory will delight the majority of our players! The second most popular choice, Soni Malaj, placed in fifth. As stated in the rules, when full rankings of the participating entries are revealed during the live broadcast, we use the full extent of our scoring system. Therefore, predicting the winning entry earns you 14 points as there were 14 finalists. Predicting the runner-up earns you 13 points and so on. Hello all readers, and welcome to the new format of the ESCXtra trivia quizzes during the National Final season. This is how the majority of the quizzes are going to look between now and May. They’ll be a challenge to check how you, the reader, are keeping up with the regular news that comes out every day about the contest. This week, there are questions from Albania to Australia, Ireland to Israel, from rumoured songs to rumoured hosts.  Every question in this quiz has its answers found in ESCXtra articles published during the last week. Like last week we have some reason to celebrate some birthdays in the the Holiday seasons. This week there are 13 Eurovision stars that celebrate their birthday. And three of them have that in common to “own” their date all by themselves as well as coming from an “S” country. One of these three is Frans Jeppsson Wall. December 17th Today´s Eurovision Birthday Star took part at Eurovision as a part of the band Balkanika. Nemanja Koji, 43 Serbia selected the band Balkania in 2018 to go on their behalf to Eurovision in Lisbon. Koji, also know as Hornsman Coyote, was the male vocalist of their song “Nova Deca”. Their song, rooted in Serbian tradition made it to the final where it landed the 19th palce.

We arrive at the current title holders, it’s Israeli quiz time. Israel were the first country not in Europe to join in the fun of Eurovision, being quite culturally close to Europe, and all. They’ve certainly been an interesting presence, with many Israeli entries reflecting Hebrew and Jewish tradition quite effectively, and nearly always retaining the Israeli character. Let’s find out how much you know about their most notable moments in the contest. With the season kicking into full gear, this will be the last ‘So You Think You Know’ for this Eurovision calendar year. If your country is in the latter half of the alphabet, do not worry, we will not forget you. The series will resume after the final of Eurovision 2019 with Italy. Just as last week, there are loads of birthdays to celebrate this week too! One of them was a winner, as in part of the famous band ABBA! December 10th Today there are four Eurovision Stars that have a birthday. It includes a two times Eurovision performers Ellen Nikolaysen as well as a guy who was the debut act for his country. Yuval Dor, 68 As part of the band Hakol Over Habiabi, Yuval performed on behalf of Israel at Eurovision in 1981. Therefore performed the song “Hanlayla” on the stage in Dublin. The song did fairly well and finished in 7th place out of 20 acts. Ellen Nikolaysen, 67 Nikolaysen took part two times at the Eurovision Song Contest. First Norway selected the singing group Bendik Singers in 1973. Ellen was part of that group. They therefore stood up on the stage in Luxembourg and sang “It’s Just A Game”. The song got 89 points, that secured them the 7th place. Norway chose Ellen again in 1975 with the song “Touched my life with summer”.  Therefore she had to travel to her neighbor country Sweden. At the final in Stockholm the song got only 11 points which meant the song …

Welcome to ROUND ONE of Eurovision Prediction 2019. This is the first round of the competition and your first chance to make a bid for the top of our leaderboard! In less than two weeks, Festivali i Këngës will take place in Albania and it’s time for you to predict who will be the winner! What is Eurovision Prediction? For those of you who have never played Eurovision Prediction before, it is a game where Eurovision fans from all over the world battle it out to become the champion! All players need to do is predict which entry will win each national final that takes place during the 2019 Eurovision season. At the end of the season, the player with the most points takes the victory and becomes Eurovision Prediction Champion!
