Bulgaria confirm Poli Genova for Stockholm

It really comes as no surprise: Bulgaria’s broadcaster BNT has confirmed Poli Genova as their artist for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm.
Bulgaria told their Twitter followers a few days ago to stay tuned and also gave out some hints. Our editor Nathan already interpreted these hints as hints pointing towards Poli Genova. The rumours aren’t new though, with a deleted tweet from November also pointing in an interesting direction, as we reported back then.
The 29 year old will have her second go at the Eurovision Song Contest. Her first attempt was in 2011, where her entry Na Inat failed to qualify for the final. She returned to the Eurovision family in 2015 when BNT also chose her to host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
Now, in 2016, she’s back. Bulgarian Head of Delegation, Joana Levieva-Sawyer, is very happy with the decision:

Poli Genova is already widely popular internationally, especially within the Eurovision Song Contest community. She also did an amazing job as the presenter of the 2015 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, and these were big factors in our choice.

For financial reasons, there will be no national final, however BNT are working with an international team of professionals on Poli’s song, which will be announced in due course. Watch this space!
