๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ Eurovision organisers deny Lady Gaga rumor

The American singer's Google page sparked rumours

Organisers of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest have denied rumours that American pop star Lady Gaga will be performing at the grand final, which will be held at the Rotterdam Ahoy in the Netherlands on 22nd May.

Rumours began circulating on social media this afternoon after Lady Gaga’s event page on Google showed that she would perform at the Rotterdam Ahoy on 22nd May at 21:00 – which is the same day and time as the Eurovision 2021 grand final. The source link leads to the Rotterdam Tourist Information website, promoting this year’s contest.

Bakker: “Not that we know of”

Replying to a tweet regarding the rumour, Sietse Bakker – the executive producer of Eurovision 2021 – denied that Lady Gaga would be performing at the contest, saying that the organisers were not aware of any such plans.

In previous years, Eurovision has attracted interval acts from the USA including Justin Timberlake in 2016 and Madonna in 2019 – whose controversial performance led to host broadcaster KAN suing the singer’s representatives Live Nation.

A variety of interval acts confirmed

Many interval acts have already been confirmed for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, though Lady Gaga had not been previously rumoured to be performing, prior to today. Lady Gaga is best known for hits such as “Bad Romance”, “Poker Face” and more recently “Rain on Me” with Ariana Grande. She was also nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for her role in A Star is Born.

Six former Eurovision winners will “Rock the Roof” during a specially-created rooftop performance in the grand final. Reigning champion Duncan Laurence will also make appearances during the week of the contest. Other interval acts confirmed so far include “The Power of Water” in semi-final 1, Ahmad Joudeh & Dez Maarsen in semi-final 2 and Afrojack, Glennis Grace & Wulf during the grand final.

What’s your opinion on international interval acts at Eurovision? Would you approve of a Lady Gaga performance?
