Iceland decides the first two finalists for Söngvakeppnin 2022

The first semi-final of Söngvakeppnin took place

Tonight the first semi-final of Iceland’s national selection for Eurovision Song Contest 2022 took place. Five artists competed for the two places in the Söngvakeppnin 2022 final.

  2. Stefán Óli – Ljósið (finalist)
  3. Haffi Haff – Gía
  4. Stefanía Svavarsdottir – Hjartað mitt
  5. Sigga, Beta og Elín – Með hækkandi sól (finalist)

The finalists were chosen solely by the Icelandic televoters. The songs and the artists for Iceland’s national selection were revealed three weeks ago, after the broadcaster RÚV had to postpone the contest due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The second semi-final of Iceland’s national selection Söngvakeppnin will take place next Saturday, on March 5th. Iceland will select their Eurovision representative on the final on March 12th. So far it has been announced that Ukraine’s Eurovision 2021 representative Go_A will perform in the final.

The winner of Söngvakeppnin will represent Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy. Iceland will take part in the first semifinal of the contest and they will perform on the second half of the show on May 10th.
