Behind the nul points: πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ 50% of the televoting countries put the UK in their bottom 3

The United Kingdom finished last night’s Eurovision final in Basel with a respectable score from the jury, but no points at all awarded by the public, for the second year in a row. But were Remember Monday close to a point somewhere in Europe?

Eight countries placed the UK in last position on the night:

  • Albania
  • Belgium
  • Czechia
  • Finland
  • Georgia
  • Lithuania
  • Montenegro
  • Poland

These represent more than 20% of the voting countries (including the Rest of the World). When you add the countries that have put the United Kingdom in second or third to last position, the figure reaches 19 countries, out of 37 potential voters, meaning more than 50%.

The average rank for “What The Hell Just Happened” was 22.8, which is the lowest of any country from the Grand Final, behind Denmark and San Marino. This average rank would remain the same even without the San Marinese televote (which is not an actual televote but an aggregate of televoting data from different countries).

The highest ranking achieved by the United Kingdom was 18th, from Iceland, Ireland and Malta, which is nowhere near the 10th position needed to get any points.

  1. Listen and look. Nemo won in 2024 with an operatic/drum and base style. JJ won with another operatic/techno style. I was in the arena plus event and when these 2 songs came on everyone went crazy, jumping around and having fun. They sung when What the Hell happened came on but they weren’t going mad for it. I liked our song but I think the BBC needs to look at the data from the other competing countries and I also think they should let us decide whose representing us. Like the royal variety show competition. Lots of other participating countries in wurovision have national competitions for the country’s representing band…why are we not allowed to have the same BBC? Clearly something isn’t working πŸ€”

  2. YEEEEEEHA
BRITAIN AGAIN BOTTOM LIKE LAST YEAR RECEIVED NO PUBLIC VOTES πŸ˜•
BEST THING WAS THE NAME OF THE SONG
    “WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED”🀯

  3. The UK need to go back to allowing the public to choose our act. Remember Monday have cracking voices but the song left a lot to be desired. It was just too strange, like two or three songs in one, giving the impression that the songwriter was trying to be too smart, like some of the Brit School alumni from the early 2000s bringing it songs saying “look at how clever I am bending the rules of music theory”.
I also found the girls’ performance a bit too “stage school”, and wanted to reach for the sick bucket over their facial expressions and faux giggles.
