Yesterday on 22nd of May two Eurovision singers had a birthday. Today, however, there are four Eurovision performers that celebrate their birthday. In the birthday group there are two artists who took part two times at Eurovision. As well as both of them winning the Eurovision Song Contest with their first entry! George Nussbaumer, Malene Mortensen, Anne-Marie David and Lena Meyer-Landrut were all born on this day.
Anne-Marie David, 66
In 1973, Luxembourg selected the French singer Anne-Marie to be their act for Eurovision. Because Luxembourg won the year before, David was on “home-field” and sang the song “Tu te reconnaîtras”. That song proved to be really popular and was in the top three fight for victory and won. That was Luxembourg’s second victory in a row.
David’s Eurovision journey did not end there, because France thought to send her as well in 1979. Therefore she sang “Je suis l’enfant soleil” in Jerusalem. As last time, her song was in the top three fight. This time however she placed 3rd.
George Nussbaumer, 55
Austria picked the pianist and composer George to go on their behalf to Oslo, Norway. That is why he played and sang “Weil’s dr guat got” at contest. His entry did really well and placed number ten at the end of the voting.

Malene Mortensen, 36
Denmark chose Malene in 2002 to go to Tallinn, Estonia. There she performed the song “Tell Me Who You Are”. Unfortunately for her, the song only got 7 points which means the song finished in the last place.
Lena Meyer-Landrut, 27
Germany sent Lena to Eurovision in 2010, with the song “Satellite”. That proved to be the right move, because at the final Meyer got 246 points. That was a clear win, since Turkey, that came in second was 76 points lower.
The following year Lena was selected again for Eurovision and therefore sang “Taken By A Stranger“. This time she placed 10th at the final.
We all here at escXtra would like to send them all wonderful birthday wishes!
