Freedom Jazz refuse to represent Ukraine in 2019

But might take part in national selection again

Vidbir 2019 runner-up Freedom Jazz posted a statement on their Instagram page saying they have refused to represent Ukraine in Eurovision Song Contest 2019.

“For now, our “Cupidon” flies further”

Yesterday the Ukrainian broadcaster UA:PBC and Vidbir 2019 winner MARUV announced that MARUV wouldn’t represent Ukraine in Eurovision Song Contest 2019. The parties did not come to an agreement on terms and therefore a contract was not signed.

Today, the Vidbir runner-up Freedom Jazz said that they received a call from the broadcaster asking them to represent the country in Eurovision 2019. They say that they refused to participate in Eurovision Song Contest 2019 and therefore won’t represent Ukraine in Tel Aviv.

We received a call from the UA:PBC and we want to announce that we refuse to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. For now, our “Cupidon” flies further. Now we are at the stage of signing a contract with a European promoter and we are negotiating tours for the near future.
