She’s back! Iceland 2012 and 2016 representative Greta Salóme has released a new single titled “Án þín” (Without you).
A year and a half in the making
The Icelandic singer and violinist released her latest single to her fans this week. Greta explained that “Án þín” is “an old version of a new song”. In addition, the project has been “one and a half years in the making”.
The song is said to be an Icelandic version of “My World Is Empty Without You” by The Supremes. The original was written by Holland-Dozier-Holland, otherwise known as Lamont Dozier and brothers Brian and Eddie Holland. Furthermore, the trio wrote and produced many songs which helped define the sound of Motown in the 1960s.
The music video shows off the beautiful sights of Iceland, as well as an appearance from a dog called Moli!
English translation of “Án þín“
Everything is so miserable without you here
without you, the sun no longer shines here
All I do is sink in the sea
because when you went something in me died.
I look at the sea because you are there
I whisper your name but get no answer
Everything is so miserable without you here
come to me, come to me.
Oh, come to me
come, come home
I want you to take two hands
