Rehearsal review

Firstly, remind yourselves what happened in the first rehearsal:

And now here is what weโ€™ve noticed in todayโ€™s second rehearsal:

Austria are keeping it relatively simple this year, it seems. The start of the song is really dark and with lots of dry ice, Vincent Bueno creates a mysterious and dark feel at the first notes. When the first chorus come on, a column of strobe lights in the back lights up. We then see Vincent on a long platform, like a catwalk, which is completely black so you don’t always see it.

They’ve added a bit more colour to this after the first rehearsals. We see more tones of red of gold. All in all, they have only made minor tweaks. Vincent is pumping his fists in the air and giving some clear facial expressions to showcase how much this song means to him. They’ve included a lot of close-ups and during several lines, Vincent closes his eyes, which makes an impression. He looks more confident and more relaxed on the stage and is giving it his all.

Ever since I saw Helena Paparizou's triumph at Eurovision in 2005 (at the tender age of 6), I have been crazy about Eurovision. From the regional native language bops and shrieky female-led balladry to the sophisticated avant garde pop songs and chart-friendly EDM, I love everything about this cultural phenomenon. I'm currently working as a Delivery Manager in a software development team.
