Benny Cristo: ” If you’re an artist, you have to make the best of what you have and improvise”

Benny spoke to us following his first rehearsal

As each day brings us closer to the live shows, ESCXTRA continues our special coverage which includes chats with this year’s artists. Earlier this week, Czech Republic’s Benny Cristo joined our live stream to discuss his preparations.

Preparations for the stage show

Speaking of how preparations are going before his performance next week, Benny revealed how him and his team are improvising, while being confined to their hotels.

Today in the lobby, we created a fake stage with fake cameras. It’s all about creativity – at the end of the day, if you’re an artist, you have to somehow make the best of what you have and improvise. If you can’t make your own stage or rehearsal, who are you as an artist?

When asked what it felt like to finally reach the Eurovision stage, following last year’s cancellation, Benny expressed his excitement and gratitude.

There are people who have been robbed, lost jobs and houses. Even though it’s limited – I’m still performing. I’m happy, I feel blessed and I’m going to make the most of it.
